R6220 on Win10 desktop won't connect to wireless printer

Replaced Airport Extreme router with an R6220 in Windows 10 environment, wi-fi access OK, however router sees wireless Canon multi-function device, but claims "printer not responding". The printer is the Default Printer to Windows, and is also an AirPrint printer. I connected the printer to the router with ethernet (which was required with initial printer setup long ago) but that made no difference. USB connectivity not available. Does the R6220 not work with wireless printers?

What does that mean? You can't get this printer to work over the LAN?

What does that mean? The printer doesn't have USB? You haven't installed the ReadySHARE Printer Utility?

If you visit the support pages:

Support | NETGEAR

you can feed in the model number and find all the documentation for your hardware.

The router doesn't care what wifi devices you run through it.

The usual way to fix wifi printers is to find the printer maker's utility, the software that runs on your operating system. Then use that to connect the printer to the wifi.

In my case I use Canon's IJ Network Tool.

The router just broadcasts wifi. It is then down to the printer to play ball. There isn't much that you can do on a router, beyond fixing it to a particular IP address, that affects what the printer gets up to.

Where possible, using the WPS feature can simplify things.
