R6300 with solid green light, but that's all

Hey everyone.

My R6300 sudenly stopped working.

After turning it on the power light turns orange and then green, as it should be. But the other lights do not come up.

I can't ping the router or access the settings.

Tried a simple reset and a 30-30-30 reset. Nothing.

Tried to turn ir on with the reset button pressed, waiting for the light blinks about 10 times. But it blinks just once. And keeps on.

Any idea what happened or how I can work around it?

Thanx.

You may have inadvertently turned off the radios for the Wi-Fi. There is a physical Wi-Fi button on the side of the router. Push it for 2 seconds and see if the Wi-Fi light turns on.

That's not the problem.

I can't ping the router connected to it using a LAN port. It does not assign me an IP. Can't ping with a static IP, either.

The LAN ports light do not come up.

Just the power on is up. A solid green. Not even blinking.

That doesn't sound good. Do you have another Ethernet cable that you can try out?

I have. But I'm sure the cable is not the problem.

I can test it tomorrow.

But I'm sure it won't make a difference.

Brand new cable. Same results.

Unidentified network. No pings. No way to update firmware using the normal precedures.

Any other idea?

Can you log into the router via Wi-Fi? If you can, then you can update the firmware via Wi-Fi. This is generally not recommended, but this situation seems to warrant drastic measures.

Re: R6300 with solid green light, but that's all

Try configuring your PC with a static IP address of 192.168.1.2. Then try pinging 192.168.1.1. If it responds, then try entering 192.168.1.1 into your browser.

If the ping works but the browser does not, then you may be able to re-install firmware using tftp. Follow these instructions.

If ping doesn't work, then I'm afraid that your router may be dead.

I already tried. All that. And said it on the other posts. Smiley Wink

I'll try to ressurect it connecting to the serial port.

It tuns on. The light turns orange and then green, as it is supposed to happen.

Maybe I still have a chance.

Good luck with the JTAG port.

Not JTAG. Serial.

Thanx.
