R6400v2 Firmware Version 1.0.4.120 DNS problem

Hi, another update in a row, this time with version 1.0.4.120 (1.0.4.120_10.0.91), does not fix the DNS problem (DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN). There are many threads on the forum reporting this problem for different versions and there is no fix again. It is particularly worrying that the new update fixes a serious security bug (https://www.tomsguide.com/news/netgear-router-circle-patches). So we have a choice of either a working router or a secure router?

For me, the solution to the problem was update to version V1.0.4.126_10.0.102. I got help from Netgear support with my case. For others looking for a solution to a similar problem, you can download the update here: https://kb.netgear.com/000064642/R6400v2-Firmware-Version-1-0-4-126 Strange things is that my router did not offer an upgrade to this version, I had to do a manual update.

Have you tried a reset?

Yes, I tried. As well as other proposed solutions in similar threads. It only helps to rollback to the old version 1.0.4.106 😕

Re: R6400v2 Firmware Version 1.0.4.120 DNS problem
What is Mfr? The model of ISP modem is compal ch7465lg-lc (set to bridge mode).
The problem is with firmware, affected are all versions newer than 1.0.4.106_10.0.80. Resolving domains works randomly - once it works correctly, and otherwise it claims that the page cannot be found (the address is correct) and only refreshing it a few times helps. If I set DNS server addresses manually in the browser/OS, the domain resolution is working fine - the problem is that I can't do it everywhere and not on all devices. If you search the forum here, you will find a lot of threads with a similar problem for different devices, eg. https://community.netgear.com/t5/General-WiFi-Routers-Non/Latest-update-bug-R6400-Firmware-DNS-issue...

So downgrade FW to what had been working. NG will have to fix this as this is not something beyond forum help.

That happens from time to time. I have an R7000P struck in the same position.
It is one reason why some of us prefer the manual route.
The "check for updates" option is unreliable.
