RN10200 Won't Discover & Serial Number Not Found When Searched

Hi,
I purchased RN10200 from a friend, I have plugged it into power and connected via ethernet cable to the wireless router but I cannot discover the NAS. I have even tried searching the serial number and it cannot be found. I am a rookie when it comes to this sort of technology so please make your helpful responses as idiot proof as possible.

Worth a try: Check your router DHCP table/attached devices for an indication that the ReadyNAS has acquired a network config - now you have an IP to point a browser to.
With a ReadyNAS (OS 6 ff.) not booting properly - e.g. because of previously used disks for other purposes, not partitioned and formatted for ReadyNAS usage - the cloud discovery can't work.
All nicely documented on the ReadyNAS Series 100 Desktop Installation Guide and the ReadyNAS OS 6 Desktop Storage Systems Hardware Manual p.165 ff.
Alternate approach is using RAIDar to discover the ReadyNAS on the LAN - also in the docs above.

There are ReadyNAS-specific forums for these devices, which would be
more appropriate than this "General WiFi Routers" forum:

"cannot" is not a useful problem description. It does not say what
you did. It does not say what happened when you did it. As usual,
showing actual actions with their actual results (error messages, LED
indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague descriptions or
interpretations.

"searching" how, where?
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation. Get some manuals. Read?
"from a friend" suggests that this thing may have been configured to
work on a network which used a different set of IP addresses ("subnet"),
which could make communication difficult. The Hardware Manual describes
a Reset procedure, which might be a good way to begin with a used device
(unless there are valuable data stored on the thing).

When I press discover it pops up saying "no devices disocvered".

You've exceeded my ReadyNAS expertise, but I'd still suggest a
settings reset before trying to deal with a used device. "No Devices
Discovered" could mean simply that the gizmo has a network configuration
incompatible with yours.

Can we assume that the Ethernet port-status LED indicators on your
(unspecified) "the wireless router" and the gizmo show a good physical
link?
