RangeMax DGND3000 as Access point and guest network?

I have Verizon FIOS. Since Verizon installed their router/modem in the basement, I need to expand wi-fi coverage elsewhere in the house. I've taken my netgear DGND3300 and turned it into an access point to expand the wi-fi. Verizon's router doesn't allow for setting up a guest network and I really hate just giving access to the entire network. So, is there any way to have the netgear function as an access point and offer up a guest network? I tried it and while I could see the guest network, it wasn't able to secure an IP address. Any solutions or suggestions here?

Thanks!
