Router stopped working after power outage
Had a power outage this morning, and now the router won't connect to the internet. When I plug the router in, the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz lights turn on, but both wireless and wired connections to the router fail. I'm able to connect when my computer is connected directly to the wall jack, however. I can't even connect to routerlogin to check the problem there.
Things I've tried so far:
Wired connection to router
Wireless connection to router
Turning the router off, unplugging it from both power and wall jack, and leaving it unplugged for a length of time.
Re: Router stopped working after power outage
Power surges and storms are great at wreaking stuff. A couple things you could try that you haven't yet.
1. try a full reset. push and hold reset for 7-10 seconds or until the lights change. Do it while the device is powered on.
2. another option is forcing new firmware to it via tftp.
Make sure to enable tftp within windows if you use it.
3. Another option is to check the power supply. Its a tough one to check because to truly test it, it needs to be under load. But if you have another power supply that is the same voltage and at least the same or more on amperage, it can substitute for trialing.
