Share Printer Trouble

I have just bought a D6300 and would now like to connect my HP 2510 printer/scanner via ready share.
I turned off the router, then connected the printer usb cable to router as instructed, and then switched back on.
I then downloaded and installed the USB Control Center program.
However I cannot see the printer and it now looks grey in my Default printer section.
What am I doing wrong?

Re: Share Printer Trouble

IF you have AVG Antivirus 2014 installed, that may be the problem, as it takes over Windows Firewall. Even though the Netgear Control Center shows as an allowed application, it simply doesn't work until you disable the AVG firewall completely, then your pc should see the printer just fine. Only problem seems to be without the AVG firewall, you are without one completely, as you will still be unable to re-initiate the Windows firewall. My solution was to downgrade to the Free edition of AVG, as it leaves the Windows firewall intact. I was trying the trial version (30 days free), so had not yet paid. If you have full blown version, contact AVG to see if they can help.
