Strict NAT Issues (WNDR3400)

I've just just recently bought a WNDR3400.

We have 2 xboxes plugged into the router, mine and my brothers.

On Call of Duty, my brother has an Open NAT, but my xbox has a Strict NAT.

I've tried all the normal procedures and it's really frustrating me now.

Why should one be open and the other strict?

I used to have this problem with my old DG834, but just resetting the xbox network settings to default always solved the problem. It doesn't work with the new router, however.

Re: Strict NAT Issues (WNDR3400)

I should probably provide more background to my network.

I dont know much about networking but here goes.

I have a BT Home Hub in my dads office. There is a ethernet cable that comes from the home hub to the WNDR3400 which supplies it with the internet.

Is there any settings I should change on the WNDR3400 for this type of setup?

The WNDR3400 supplies my whole house with internet access, including 2 xboxes (wired) 3 iPhones, and 2 iPads.

Hope this helps to solve the NAT problem.

Re: Strict NAT Issues (WNDR3400)

You have to open some ports on the router and the NAT of it as well. Call the xbox tech support and get the necessary port numbers. Make sure you ask as well the service type of each port (like udp, tcp, udp/tcp). Ask as well the IP address of your xbox that's not working.

2 xbox can be an issues...

try disable uPnP in the router , open a ports for one xbox' IP and one xbox on DMZ and see.

* interface may not the same but give you the ports you need...

Re: Strict NAT Issues (WNDR3400)

- Obtain the latest firmware for your router.
- Turn OFF port forwarding or any DMZ you have previously configured for xBox Live.
- Set both xBox consoles to Auto IP Address in Network Settings
- Ensure uPnP is ENABLED on router.
- Restart the router and wait 2 minutes.
- Start up "Xbox1", run the Xbox Live test, confirm NAT is OPEN, then log on Xbox 1 into the "Marketplace".
- Start up "Xbox2", run the Xbox Live test, check NAT status, if it is OPEN you should be OK hereon in.

I've tried everything in this thread so far and nothing has opened the NAT on my Xbox. Any other suggestions?

Should my WNDR3400 have Use Router as DHCP Server enabled? Because my BT Home Hub is receiving the internet. I want to use the WNDR3400 as a hub really, for wifi and some wired connections.

Re: Strict NAT Issues (WNDR3400)

Update: I've solved the problem, by disconnection the ethernet that plugs into the uplink port and plugged it into a standard ethernet port. I then disabled Use as DHCP and it worked straght away. So now, all my devices get there IP from the BT Home Hub, via the WNDR3400.
