Use 5GHz bandwidth on 2.4GHz?

A lot of devices in our house are outdated and don't have 5GHz capability, making for a lot of networking through the 2.4 band. This can inevitally cause lag in the system.

So what I ask is if there is a way to give more than 450mbps to the 2.4GHz band, or a way to have certain 2.4GHz devices use the bandwidth of the 5GHz band.

Sure just buy a universal WiFi adapter that will do both, WNCE3001 will work. Also you can upgrade your computer adapters to 5Ghz dual band also.

Not unless you can replace the wifi cards in the affected devices with 5GHz ones.

You can simply disable the 5Ghz if you are not going to use it. There is not option to have priority over either of bands that if if you are using both band in mix mode.

450Mbps will only work if you have correct wifi adapter. Usually in form of USB wireless adapter for desktop, in laptop you may able to replace mini-PCI WiFi card
