Use WNDR3700v1 as only AP and GigE switch?
My cable modem (and therefore the room where my router needs to be) is in a room full of metal and electronics, thus the signal doesn't propagate very strongly into other parts of the house.
So, I'm thinking of replacing my 3700v1 with my old wifi router -- but disabling the wifi portion -- and placing the 3700 near a more centrally located Cat5 jack. This, though, would require that it not act like a router.
In order to do this, what else should I do besides setting the LAN IP address to 192.168.1.2 and disabling the DHCP server?
Thanks,
Ron

In the first router verify the DHCP address does not include 192.168.1.2.

🙂 That router's DHCP allocation range starts at .100.

Those are the only changes that need to be made?

Sounds like you got it correct, just remember not to use the WAN port 🙂
