Using R6400 Router To Extend WIFI Provided by my Cable provider

I have an Arris Interactive, L.L.C. TG862G supplied by Comcast cable which has its own wifi.

Wifi is very sketchy at far end of house but I have an etthernet port hardwired back to that end of house.

I have an r6400 and would like to use it by placing it in the sketchy area of the house and connecting it directly to the Arris and then using it to improve the wi-fi and also use its ports. I don't want 2 separate networks but I don't see anything that seems exactly what I want in the manual.

Any ideas?. Can I change the SSID and password to match the Arris (or vice-versa) ?

R6400 or R6400v2?  Look at the product label.  Firmware version?

Does that mean that there's an Ethernet cable which runs from near
your TG862G to near where you want to put the R6400[vX]?

Does that mean two different sets of (SSID+passphrase) credentials,
or two different IP subnets, or what?

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your (actual) model number,
and look for Documentation.  Get the User Manual.  Look for a heading
like "Use the Router as a WiFi Access Point".

If the TG862G and the R6400[vX] are widely separated, then it could
work. There is some potential for a client device to get confused if
you carry it from near one of these gizmos to near the other one, but a
little experimentation should reveal all.
