WNDR 4300 ReadyShare Cloud doesn't work properly as certain websites are not reachable
I bought a new router at the beginning of September -- WNDR 4300 and already have a RMA issued on it as it kept loosing the Internet and certian website it would not go to. Now that I have a replacement it has been rock stead. However, I cannot use it for one of the features that I bought for -- ReadyShare Cloud. Why? If I enable ReadyShare Cloud on the router as at least 2 websites that I know of become unreachable -- https://my.avast.com and http://www.shoutcast.com. Both I use on a regular basis as I am a customer of Avast and I like listening to music.
Has anyone else had these issues?
Thank you,
George

Re: WNDR 4300 ReadyShare Cloud doesn't work properly as certain websites are not reachable
Hi @gworley,
Welcome to the community!
That's a pretty strange scenario you have. Do you get any error message when you go to these 2 websites while ReadyShare Cloud is enabled?
What's the exact model version of your router? Can you post a screen grab where it shows you have the ReadyShare enabled and at the same time have those sites open?
Have you tried reset and reconfigure?
Looking forward to your response.

Re: WNDR 4300 ReadyShare Cloud doesn't work properly as certain websites are not reachable
Hi,
Please try the steps from this KB article:
Unable to open some website when ReadySHARE Cloud is enabled
When a ReadySHARE Cloud router registers successfully, the router will remove the ‘route’ for network 5.0.0.0/8. Thus, Internet addresses with 5.x.x.x will not be accessible from the LAN client devices.

Re: WNDR 4300 ReadyShare Cloud doesn't work properly as certain websites are not reachable
So I pinged the 2 websites you mentioned and these are their IP addresses:
5.45.62.71 - my.avast.com
5.39.58.74 - www.shoutcast.com
So on the router's static route page:
Destination IP: 5.45.62.71
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.255
Gateway: (Your router's internet IP)
Metric: 2
Just do the same thing for 5.39.58.74 . And if you would like to allow all 5.x.x.x websites . You may try the following:
Destination IP: 5.0.0.0
Subnet Mask: 255.0.0.0 ( This mask includes all 5.x.x.x hosts)
Gateway: (Your router's internet IP)
Metric: 2

Re: WNDR 4300 ReadyShare Cloud doesn't work properly as certain websites are not reachable
Why is ReadyShare Cloud deleting ROUTES. THIS IS BAD PROGRAMMING. There are a who slew of websites that use the 5.x.x.x IP address range.

Re: WNDR 4300 ReadyShare Cloud doesn't work properly as certain websites are not reachable
I believe Readyshare cloud uses virtual leaf network adapter that connects to a virtual network from readysharecloud server and that virtual network is using 5.x.x.x subnet. I guess the router deletes that route from his routing table to avoid conflict.

Re: WNDR 4300 ReadyShare Cloud doesn't work properly as certain websites are not reachable
Still bad programming. Should NOT BE USING a public network where there is lots of Public web servers. The 5.x.x.x range is not private and should never ever be treated that way.
For a VPN should be using a reserved IP address range probably one found here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reserved_IP_addresses or here http://www.iana.org/assignments/iana-ipv4-special-registry/iana-ipv4-special-registry.xhtml
One should not have to use hacks -- putting a static route in is a hack to make it work. This router is sold for home use. The average home user would not have the knowledge to perform this type of procedure on their own. So IMHO is a very serious bug.
