WNDR3400v3 - My devices can't connect to 5ghz anymore

I own a WNDR3400v3 — N600 Wireless Dual Band Router

And recently, all of my devices can no longer connect to the 5ghz network

UNLESS I make the security option NONE or WEP

None of the WPA ones work

This is info from another post I made on a different site

With detailed info on my current issue

And things I tried both with the device and the wifi router

At first I thought it was my device not working
But then I saw that no other devices were connecting to it

https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Galaxy-S8/Samsung-Galaxy-s8-Wifi-quot-authentication-error-occur...

My phone suddenly won't connect to wifi after turning off due to low battery
It's not the first time it's ran out of battery, it always reconnected just fine
It also doesn't turn off due to low battery a lot (about 3 - 5 times a year if you need a reference)

I've tried every solutions available online and from the chat support (inhuman bot)
I've:
-Done the basics:
    Turn off/on
    Restarted
    Turn wifi on/off
    Forgot network
Tried static IP (manually entering network data)
    Changed security protocol for connection
    Turned wifi router off/on
Turned wifi router AND router/modem off/on
Turned off all the boxes AND the phone, starting up the modem, then wifi router, then the phone
    Checked for updates
Anything else that is a basic option I've already done

-I tried changing:
   SSID Name
   SSID Password
   SSID Channel
   SSID bitrate/speed/mode
   SSID Security Protocol to:
       WPA-PSK [TKIP]
       WPA2-PSK [AES]
       WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES]
Blocking/Unblocking device from the network via router settings
Connecting to another network to confirm network or wifi router is functional
   Checked for Firmware update
Changed device communication name for bluetooth/wifi/and other connections
(and then changed them back when it didn't work)
Reseted wifi network settings via Settings>searching 'reset network settings'
There are other things I attempted that I cannot remember

I tried basically any setting that has to do with both connecting to the wifi
As well as how the inquiry is sent between the two devices
And switched them back if it didn't do anything

Because it has connected perfectly fine until now I REFUSE to do a factory reset
That is NOT a solution, that is a dead-end

I also don't need a new router, since it wasn't altered or disturbed in any way when this problem started happening

Same goes for my internet/ISP connection, it can't be my internet since everything else works and I wasn't in the middle of messing with it

There was no bad weather or natural disaster that could have disturbed the connection
(this includes common downs/outages)

The only time it connects is if I set the SSID to NOT have a password
Of course it does

UPDATE: I tried the WEP security protocol and it worked
But obviously I don't want to be using that

On some other note, I couldn't change security options till I first turned them off and then back on

OH and apparently I'm not on the latest firmware for the device, but when I check via the router's advanced options, it says I'm up to date

I'm a tad scared to manually update it and just break everything

Re: WNDR3400v3 - My devices can't connect to 5ghz anymore

Basically the only other thing we'd recomend would be the manual update followed by a factory reset and clean install (not using a backup configuration).

A couple reasons for both.

1. A manual update done over a hardwired in pc/laptop tends to actual have less issues with corrupt firmware then using the app or auto-update process in my experience on the forums. Fairly simple to do as well.

2. Something might have gotten corrupt in the firmware or settings. which is why we'd recommend changing firmware and the factory reset. You might not have done anything but heat as well as time is the ultimate killer of electronics. the newer things get, the more sensitive they are to degrading/going bad. So corrupted firmware or settings could be the culprit. Not saying they are.

And the wndr3400 was made in 2014. So its got a little time/usage on it.

If you don't want to try those options, then you might be SOL and need to look for a new router.

Which is why you aren't out anything to try those options.
