Re: WNDR3700v2/WNDR37AVv2 v1.0.1.14

I upgraded from version 1.0.0.36 to version v1.0.1.14. The router functions themselves seem to operate fine. However, I am having a problem that I have not seen reported here yet.

Now the login and use of the router management program are extremely slow. Login takes two to three miunutes. Changing from one page to another takes about a minute.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Re: WNDR3700v2/WNDR37AVv2 v1.0.1.14

I too upgraded from version 1.0.0.36 to version v1.0.1.14.

Also for me the wifi functions operate properly ... my only big issue is with MediaServer functions.

With version 1.0.0.36 i was able to store, indexing ad playing mp4 videos (type characteristics of a sample file are shown in the bottom).

Now, with version 1.0.1.14, during indexing (or reindexing) the first of these files met stops the whole process ... all the additional files (of any type) are ignored.
I have several hundred files in the server, about a good half are of the mp4 type and the work required to convert them would be huge, impossible in practice.

I do not want to go back to the previous version, the wifi was too unstable, but I can not even keep up with the media server virtually useless.

Any suggestions?

By the way, forgive my English is not really my native language ... I did my best with what I remember, and helping with the translator of google. I hope you understand it anyway.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Re: WNDR3700v2/WNDR37AVv2 v1.0.1.14

We ran the upgrade from 1.12 to 1.14 and things are borked.

Our 3700v2 fW 1.12 worked as a subnet firewall originally, then was used as an access point for the wireless nodes.

First, After the upgrade, there is no option for Wireless Lan Access Point

Second the DNS does not work.

I put the 3700v2 in the place of a subnet again, allocating some DHCP, to three computers wired and for the wireless users. Up to 15, all secured by MAC filter and security key.

Main Firewall 192.168.1.1
|
3700v2 192.168.1.95 (Static IP)
|
SUBNET 192.168.210.1-254
PC and Wireless

If I set the 3700v2 DNS server to the main router 192.168.1.1 or public DNS, still the computers behind the 3700v2 cannot reach the internet. They can ping an ip, but cannot visit. Not even the printer on the larger LAN 192.168.1.19.

However, when I set the computers to use 192.168.1.1 and their DNS server, they are OK. This is very inconvenient though for the wireless computers.

What am I missing?
Is WAP mode supposed to be gone in v1.0.1.14?
Did our product get semi bricked by the upgrade?

The main wire from the frontline firewall goes into the WAN port on the 3700v2. Will it go show WAP option mode if I move the main wire to a standard port?

Thank you for any help

Re: WNDR3700v2/WNDR37AVv2 v1.0.1.14

Please make sure you did a full reset after the upgrade. AP mode is gone in this version and I am not sure why. Hopefully Netgear will release an update that returns AP mode complete with the genie interface. There is also no reboot button either.

Re: WNDR3700v2/WNDR37AVv2 v1.0.1.14

I realize this could be considered a loaded question for a number of reasons, but I'm going to try anyway: What is the 'recommended' firmware version?

I currently have a WNDR3700v2 running V1.0.0.32 that seems to work adequately, with no obvious problems except that it won't accept any new firmware via the normal firmware upgrade method. Support was worse than useless at explaining this 'feature' to me, but I eventually found my way here on my own. Given that it's going to be a bit of a faff to fix it, should I bother trying to change it, and to which version? Is there a complete listing of release notes somewhere to explain what has been changed?

Thanks.

Re: WNDR3700v2/WNDR37AVv2 v1.0.1.14

I had problems with .36 dropping wireless connections after a few weeks without rebooting. I would say stat with .32 if it is stable for you. 1.0.1.14 seems stable for me and cleared up the problem of dropping wireless connections for me.

Supposedly .14 fixes the problem I am having accessing wireless devices from other wireless devices on the network.

Can't say I'm surprised about the Port Forwarding issue. That's one example of what happens when the router firmware isn't properly changed. If it had, then there wouldn't have been any previous settings to get "lost". Issues like this can be prevented by reading the 'Change' guide linked at the top of this thread and found in my signature.

Has anyone found out how to get port forwarding working with this router?!!

Re: WNDR3700v2/WNDR37AVv2 v1.0.1.14

I have a Netgear N600 Wndr3700v2 and am trying to port forward my plex media server. I tried everything I could think of to get this to work...but no avail. Can you please help me? I had it working fine with my other netgear router no problem using the same exact setup. I have a arris cable modem that connects to my router and then to my pc

As long as WAN of the router has public ip it should work

Re: WNDR3700v2/WNDR37AVv2 v1.0.1.14

So I have the WNDR3700v2 router with firmware V1.0.0.32. When trying to upgrade to the newest version, I keep getting the following message: This firmware file is incorrect! Please get the firmware file again and make sure it is the correct firmware for this product. I have tried upgrading to the newest firmware version the following 2 ways and get the message both ways: 1) Log in via 129.168.1.1 and click the message that says "A new firmware upgrade is available. Click here to get it." 2) Downloaded the firmware to my computer and tried uploading from the download location, after I unzipped the files to get the .IMG file. What am I doing wrong, or what is wrong with my router that I can't install the newest f V1.0.1.14

Re: WNDR3700v2/WNDR37AVv2 v1.0.1.14

There was a bug in the .32 firmware that would break the ability to upgrade to a newer version. You need to downgrade to 1.0.0.12 and then you can upgrade to v1.0.1.14.

Re: WNDR3700v2/WNDR37AVv2 v1.0.1.14

When will Netgear release a new firmware for 3700v2? I need AP mode and I don't want use to an old UI.

Re: WNDR3700v2/WNDR37AVv2 v1.0.1.14

I updated the firmware on my Netgear WNDR3700 router today to V1.0.1.14 in the Safari browser on my MacBook Pro. Now every time I try to log into the browser settings, (typing 192.168.1.1 into the browser address bar), Safari crashes. When I do that in Firefox I have no problems and it shows V1.0.1.14 as the current version of the firmware. I cleared the cache in Safari and restarted the router, but Safari still crashes when I try to access the settings. What could be the problem with Safari ?

Re: WNDR3700v2/WNDR37AVv2 v1.0.1.14

When I install v1.0.1.14 my WNDR3700v2 (v1.0.0.32) it responds with this message: "The version you are trying to install is incorrect!"

Just like that, including the exclamation.

The file I uploaded to the router was: WNDR3700v2_WNDR37AVv2-V1.0.1.14.img
which was inside the zip file downloaded from Netgear's support website:
http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/24482

I have tried multiple times from different PCs and I always get the same message. So it appears to be an issue with the v1.0.1.14 file.

Any idea when this will be fixed?

Thanks.

Re: WNDR3700v2/WNDR37AVv2 v1.0.1.14

I have been using my WNDR3700v2 in AP mode for some time. I upgraded to the 1.0.1.14 firmware update and the web GUI reverted back to the SmartWizard interface instead of the Genie interface.

The AP option is not available in the SmartWizard interface. Is there a way to restore the Genie interface?

I have already tried reverting to an older firmware version 1.0.0.12 and doing a soft and hard reset with no luck.

Re: WNDR3700v2/WNDR37AVv2 v1.0.1.14

The Genie GUI is only in the prior firmware version .36. You would need to revert back to that version. Not sure why Netgear won't release an updated version that restores the Genie GUI.

Re: WNDR3700v2/WNDR37AVv2 v1.0.1.14

Thanks mbob! It doesn't look like revision 1.0.0.36 is publicly available any more. Fortunately I had a copy of that revision.

The Genie GUI is much easier to use and I have been using the AP feature. Does anyone know if the AP feature is available in version 1.0.1.14?

On another note I called support and they aren't aware that the Genie GUI is not included with version 1.0.1.14.

Re: WNDR3700v2/WNDR37AVv2 v1.0.1.14

I attempted to install this firmware, and received the following error message:

"The firmware file is incorrect! Please get the firmware file again and make sure it is the correct firmware for this product."

After that passive aggressive programatic message, I re-checked everything. I ensured i have the router model, the correct firmware, everything.

I attempted to upgrade my firmware via the Administrative page for the router, as well as downloading the image and uploading to the router. Both attempts resulted in the same message.

I have heard a few different things from forums:

1. Wait until the next firmware upgrade, as this one is trash.
2. Downgrade and then upgrade (extremely hesitant to do this).

What's the best path folks are taking? My wireless printer is inoperable on this router since the last upgrade (luckily, it has it's own signal and can be connected to directly), and ReadyShare absolutely is inoperable for Mac on this new firmware for external HDDs.

Re: WNDR3700v2/WNDR37AVv2 v1.0.1.14

I tried to upgrade from "32" as well and no dice. I first tried the "14" and got the error about being incorrect firmware. I then tried the "12" firmware and it also got the same error.

How are you guys "updating" from "32" to "12"??

Thanks
