WNDR3700v2 attached USB drive is lost to Windows 10 following a reboot

After I reboot my pc running Windows 10, it is unable to reconnect to a WD 500GB USB drive attached to my WNDR3700 router, over both wired (Broadcom Netlink Gigabit Ethernet card) and wireless (Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter). Even if I 'disconnect' the USB drive in File Explorer, I cannot re-map a drive letter to it. However, the USB drive looks fine from either my tablet (also Windows 10) or Bluray player, both connected wirelessly.

I am up-to-date on all drivers/firmware on the PC and router as far as I know. Since the problem happens when connected both wired and wirelessly, does this indicate a problem with an Ethernet driver on the PC?

Thanks

Geordie

Perhaps that particular computer needs reformat?

Try to back up and format.

So when you lose it from your computer, the USB drive is still accessible from your tablet and your Bluray?

If yes, then it could be something on that Windows 10 PC.

You may want to try to scan it for some malwares or have it reformatted.

I have done a full sweep of the system using ZoneAlarm with nothing found. Since the tablet works okay, I know it is not a fundamental problem with Windows 10. I read some other threads about a similar issue with Windows 8, but did not find a solution there.

Do you mean reformat the drives, or reinstall Windows 10?

It could be both.

Since the other Windows 10 doesn't have any problems at all.

But then again that's a tablet they're both different.

Re: WNDR3700v2 attached USB drive is lost to Windows 10 following a reboot

Okay, so I backed up everything, formatted C: and the installed Win10 from scratch. Currently everything is looking good, and I have even fixed some "Unknown USB device issues". Now all I have to do is reinstall/rebuild everything, which should keep me busy for a few days and certainly stress test the system.

Thanks for the help
