WNDR3700v4 Firmware Upgrade

When I logged in to the router today it told me an upgrade was available. This installed OK and shows version 1.0.2.78.

However, the download page on the Netgear site shows version 1.0.2.80 is the latest. I ran a check again for upgrade within the router and it says I have the latest (1.0.2.78).

Should I manually install version 1.0.2.80?

There's no reason why you should not be able to manually install it.

To upload manually the firmware:

Re: WNDR3700v4 Firmware Upgrade

Thanks

I've upgraded to 1.0.2.80.

I couldn't understand why the update facility didn't say the 1.0.2.80 was available.

There might be some problems with the communication between the genie and the server of NETGEAR. Good thing manually updating the router works for you.

Re: WNDR3700v4 Firmware Upgrade -- genie web web weirdness

Dear Forum Gurus:

I tried to update the WNDR3700v4 and change the wi-fi access pw using:

1) the current version of the genie

2) directly entering the default gateway ip address id'd by running ip config from cmd prompt (Win 7 64 bit pro)

3) using http://www.routerlogin.net

All 3 methods above (using both IE and Chrome) produced the same results: a web page that did not have any hyperlinks or anything even vaguely resembling the interface described in netgear's online documentation. It is difficult to describe, but the router's access web page was all text. For example, a line of text "click here to upgrade firmware", but there was no "button" to click. The options for "Basic", "Advanced", "Administration" were likewise just plain text -- not even underlined to indicate the presence of hyperlink.

After spending several hours searching web for answers and finding none, I appeal to the generous expertise of this community. And yes, I have seriously considered tweaking the route with the 16 lb. sledge hammer in my garage! 🙂

Many thanks to anyone who can resolve this problem.

I appreciate you taking time to read this post.

Hello @Gilgamesh_Undon,

Welcome to the community!

Looks like that the web page for the router settings are not showing correctly.

Have you tried other PC? If you get the same result, I must say that the router needs reset.

After resetting, reconfigure the router as if it's brand new out of the box.

Let us know what happens.
