WNR1000v2 won't allow Linksys WRT54GS to connect to internet

My home network is set up so that my cable modem leads into a WNR1000v2 (just installed, was previously an old wired-only router), which connects to several PCs but also to my Linksys WRT54GS which leads to my PC and several game consoles. (Cable modem -> WRN1000v2 -> WRT54GS -> My Windows Vista 64 PC)

After replacing an old router with the WNR1000v2, my WRT54GS no longer has any connection to the internet. I can log into the WRT54GS with 192.168.1.1 and it appears to be operating normally with all the latest firmware etc. I can still use the WRT54GS to connect my PC to my game consoles. I've checked and double checked all power and network cables. All of the PCs connected directly to the WNR1000v2 have normal internet access.

How can I configure either the WRN1000v2 or the WRT54GS to allow me to connect my PC and game consoles to the internet?

Re: WNR1000v2 won't allow Linksys WRT54GS to connect to internet

Thanks for the help! I needed that "access point" terminology to be able to Google this properly. I was able to set up the WRT54GS Linksys router as an access point from the WNR1000v2 by roughing following this guide.

On the Linksys WRT54GS:

This was actually surprisingly easy aside from having no idea what I'm doing or what any of these scary acronyms mean.

    Thanks again!

Re: WNR1000v2 won't allow Linksys WRT54GS to connect to internet

I may have a similar problem...yet different. I have a cable modem that is Linksys model BEFCMU10, and the ethernet cable goes through a vonage voip and then into a Netgear router WNR100v2.

I have been having connectivity issues but only with a website I am building using wordpress.

At first it was intermittent and now is completely unconnected. I get a server timeout notice, but have checked it out with the domain host and they say it is fine. I use Firefox, and have gone so far as to replace the graphics driver. I also use AVG and have checked all levels to see if it is blocking, but as far as I can tell it is not. I don't use a proxy server.

I can disconnect the router and plug directly from the cable modem into this pc, and that works, but it inconveniences the rest of the household.

Can anyone help me?

you want vonage devcie behind the wnr1000 and use port forwarding
vonage will have what port be ported or use DMZ in the netgear router and pointed to vonage device
