Wireless Bridge to WiFi

I've set up my router as a wireless bridge to another. This allows me to use the connection of the parent router via the ethernet of the one in bridged mode. Is there a way to turn on the other WiFi radios to instead be able to communicate via the bridge to the parent router over WiFi?

The gentleman here: https://community.netgear.com/t5/R6000-Series-AC-WiFi-Routers/R6400-as-Wireless-Repeater-to-a-Distan... was looking for the same thing but he was directed to bridge mode which is only the first half of the problem.

Thanks

DD-WRT seems to have this feature (named Repeater Bridge): https://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Repeater_Bridge

Re: Wireless Bridge to WiFi

Sounds like you may be descrbing AP mode?  base router<<--ethernet>>>R6400. Is this what you are describing?

Re: Wireless Bridge to WiFi

Thanks for the quick response.

Unfortunatly I'm not able to get a wired connection to the orgin. I was looking for a way to go base <- wifi -> r6400 <- wifi -> devices.

Re: Wireless Bridge to WiFi

To configure (Media)Bridge mode on an R6400 (if that's what you have - assuming it's v1) check manual here. Media Bridge mode only allows bridge wifi to the base router with wired clients connected to the far end bridge. Other option is AP mode, which needs Ethernet, which you indicated you can't do.  Pages 129-131. If it's v2 check here for manual. the is alway a powerline solution, and configure the R6400 in AP mode. Google (search) powerline. (You would need two powerline devices).

EDIT: you could ty DD-WRT, if there is fw version for your router..

Re: Wireless Bridge to WiFi

Sounds like what I'm after isn't supported in the current firmware. I'll give DD-WRT a shot. Thanks for the help.
