Worst Customer Service ever

When my router stopped working I called for support. It was 5 months old so I expected to have to pay for the support.  The customer service person told me that the router will automacially require a software update when the warranty expires and he would only help me with it if I paid $130, which is more than the router cost in the first place.  The thing is programmed to stop working and Netgear will only service it if I pay an extreme amount of money. What a fraudulent, unethical ripoff!  Worst experience ever.

I don't know who you talked too, but this is completely incorrect information.

@TerribleCompany I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

Can you provide us more details here on how we may assist you? Perhaps the community will give you the answers to your queries.

For the correct support entitlement, here's the article.

Sounds like one of those Asian scammers who put up authentic sounding Google-bait web pages and then want to take over your PC so that they can inflict even more damage.

Re: Worst Customer Service ever

Did you read the message from ElaineM? (See above.)

If you want to resolve the problem rather than join in a continuing rant to let off steam, you might want to start a new discussion with some details of what is going wrong at your end.

You don't day.

Re: Worst Customer Service ever

Is our society becoming whole bunch of button pushers? This kind of episode is ever more so frequesnt. Simply because one does not

have BASIC networking knowledge and lack of communication skills.   I read a sign some where, I think it was at a computer repair shop. "Dumb questions get dumb answers"

@Kirkman126 It looks like you needed to RMA your device. See the link below on how to get an RMA.

Re: Worst Customer Service ever

Thank you for the help. You gave me info that would have been nice for the worthless tech line to have. After my wasted morning on the phone with them in whatever country, I did just what they said and returned it to costco. 150 miles later I have installed the new one.
