Re: amber upstream light on solid
You can check the cable for splitters, amplifiers, or attentuators and remove them if you have them.
check the coax cable for kinks, damage, cheap/bad connectors, loose connectors.
Preferably, move the modem to right where the coax enters the home to prevent extend runs or issues internal to the wiring of the home.
If that doesn't help then the comcast person does need to check the lines.

Re: amber upstream light on solid
I have no amplifiers, or attentuators, only have 1 splitter
With 2 outs, 1 side to the TV and 1 side to cable modem.
replaced spltter last night, no change.
Still have light and it just drops off line when it wants but shows to be connected.

Re: amber upstream light on solid
sounds like it must have been an issue with one of the splitters/connections.
glad to hear its fixed. if you mark it solved, it can help the next person.

Re: amber upstream light on solid
12/7
but oh i spoke to soon! not fixed!
10pm saturaday night internet died, i have tv but no internet.
bought new modem wifi router netgear 7000v2.
so monday the techs come back out install some filter at the connections box outside then spend an hour talking to there tech support.
speed better than it has ever beeen for now. 125+ up & 12+ down.
still have only 5 of the 8 upstream channels.
have all 24 downstream channels.
of course the comcast guys blame netgear.
is there a way to solve this or is it a problem at all?

Re: amber upstream light on solid
On upstream you usually only expect to see 4 channels locked so its pretty good to have 5 locked.
after it dropped, you had the technicians out?
and you bought a new modem as well?

Re: amber upstream light on solid
just had another tech out.
they ran all there test and cleared my line, sais it was capabile of 700+mbps
so is there a reason the router can not get all 8 channels?
what determines how they are locked?

Re: amber upstream light on solid
I've never seen an isp with all 8 upstream locked. 4-5 is normal. Reason why is upstream is so much lower than downstream. I have gig service but my upstream is only "up to 30mbps". I usually hit 40mbps. which 4 channels can easily handle.
Did you say you bought new modem?
