netgear router r6400

Is there a netgear app that you can use to find the connected items to the r6400 router?

Is that accurate?  R6400 or R6400v2?  Look at the product label.
Firmware version?

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your (actual) model number,
and look for Documentation.  Get the User Manual.  Read.  Look for "View
Devices Currently on the Network".

Or do you really insist on using some "netgear app" or other?

For the R6400 v1, the latest version of the Genie app that isn't crippled (i.e., it still lets you administer the router, including parental controls and display connected devices) is 3.1.74 (for Android) which you can download from a third party APK mirror site. Don't let your OS autoupgrade the app because it will cease to work. You can't install the old, but working, version on iOS.

The other option is to login to the web GUI of your router from your phone and look at the connected devices there. You go to Advanced > Administration > Attached Devices.

There is also a limited functionality Access Control page under Advanced > Security > Access Control.
