I could get that effect without a router.  What's the IP address of
the computer/device where you're trying this?  How is it connected to
the router?

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation.  Get the User Manual (at least).  Read.  Look for the
LED descriptions and "Troubleshoot".

Default IP should be 192.168.1.1  and not 192.168.0.1

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Protocol
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_address

"192.168.1.1" might be correct for a router-only (Rxxxx model), but
the default for a modem+router is "192.168.0.1".  Like this one, for
example:

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in that model number (or any
other Cxxxx or Dxxxx model number), and look for Documentation.  Get the
User Manual (at least).  Read.  Look for a topic like "Factory Default
Settings" and "LAN IP address".

Thanks for playing, but you might want to check your facts before
awakening a weeks-old thread to post such misinformation (which is
already too abundant around here).
