wirelessley connect WNDR3300 as range extender to R6300v2
Trying to connect mother in law cottage to house wifi: house has R6300v2 router and cottage has WNDR3300 router. How can I get the R6300v2 to recognize the WNDR3300 wirelessly? I have attached it with RJ45 cable and Netgear admin panel recognizes the device, but now when I unplug and try to pair via WiFi. Win10 OS on desktop environment with R6300v2 wired to it.

I suspect that you don't understand "wireless access point". A WAP is called a WAP because it provides access to wireless devices, not because it uses a wireless connection to your main router. As previously suggested, get the User Manual for an R7000, and look for "Use the Router as a Wireless Access Point". Note how the R7000-as-WAP is connected to the "Existing Router/Gateway". (You might also look for "Set Up a Wireless Distribution System", but I doubt that the WNDR3300 can do that. Practically any router can be configured as a WAP, but WDS is more complex.)

You don't need to do anything on the main router in order to connect a WAP to it.

If you can't run a cable to the WNDR3300, then I'd guess that it won't be of much use.

I wouldn't bet that an antique like a WNDR3300 (or even a WNDR3300v2) offers any such mode of operation. Have you found any evidence that it does, or is this just wishful thinking?
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your (actual) model number, and look for Documentation. Get the User or Setup Manual. Read. Look for anything which resembles what you want to do?
If you try that for a model like, say, "R7000", then you might have more success.

An Ethernet cable connection may be about all you can do with an WNDR3300[vX]. (And even then, you might want to configure the WNDR3300[vX] as a wireless access point, rather than as a full-function router.)

It is too far to run an ethernet cable, so if I have to do that, this is a bust. I might have to advise her to buy a renge extender instead of using her old router. Not sure she can afford that.
