ive used netgear most my computing life and am happy at presant

ive just bought this new wnr2000v3 the other day and got it setup and running nicely.

one prolem that exists is my download speeds are 9mb ?!?!?

ive plugged my modem directly into my pc and i get my full 50mb d/s
plug router back in and its back down to 9mb

can any1 point me in the right direction ?

ive read a few things on here
one was chaning my adapter settings to auto negotiate, which had no affect.
the router is pretty much at default settings apart from my wifi a couple of port forwards i have going on.

MTU i changed to 1492 as suggested by a mod in anothe rpost but to no avail

Re: wnr2000v3 capping me at 9mb !?!

i did call them
they advised me to plug to modem in directly to the pc
this gave me my full speed

router back on and down to 9mb

just checked in my router statistics page n teh WAN speed is 10m/full !!!!
surely this router cannot just be 10meg onteh WAN side ??
if so its going straight back to the shop

if they are provide you the router then suggest to get replaced.

I would not think ISP will provided the router that can not do more than 9Mbps 🙂

If you recently changed speed to higher bandwidth then likely router can not handle over 9Mbps

I have no ideal WAN-LAN throughput so aks support at my.Netgear.com to confirm

Re: wnr2000v3 capping me at 9mb !?!

Are you 100% sure that the 10Mb/Full is not on the ISP end? (ie:modem, etc.) because that connection is not only based on your equipment but theirs, as it will only run at the highest rate set on one end or the other, and I believe your modem is not hard set, but *auto*.

Re: wnr2000v3 capping me at 9mb !?!

issue is quite common as NOT all router can handle ANY high Mbps as there is spec called "WAN -LAN throughput' even router has 10/100 on WAN and internet speed is a various speed up to ex. 100Mbps speed, WAN-LAN throughput value will limit the pass to LAN

ex. 100base-t WAN connection to broadband mdoem
50Mbps internet speed
WAN-LAN througput is is 25Mbps.

highest the internet traffic will be 25Mbps

ive plugged my modem directly into my pc and i get my full 50mb d/s
plug router back in and its back down to 9mb

this also answer clearly states ISP is 50Mbps.

Re: wnr2000v3 capping me at 9mb !?!

Anyone notice his picture that the wan port is listed at 10M and the lan ports are 100M.

Time to look for a higher router. I though when I first read this you had a cable router and not 2 separate items.

I have a dsl 3300 netgear router and I know being it being an adsl modem I'm maxed at 8MB ish unless I get a higher dsl2 router (pending if my isp supports higher).

I assume you're talking about the DGND3300? I don't know about the version 1, but my version 2 connects at 12Mbps regularly. I believe it supports ADSL2+ speeds, though I don't know the maximum offhand.
I am in no way affiliated with Netgear other than as a consumer. Anything I advise may break your router and void your warranty.
