Canon MG3620 Wireless Printer Connectivity Issue

I just purchased a new Canon MG3620 wireless printer and have followed all of the set up steps but our iPads will not "find" the printer.  During the printer setup, it recognizes and signs on to the correct SSID.  But once the setup program "sends settings" the printer doesn't register.

i went into the router settings and it did not list the printer under attached devices.  However, if I go back to the WAN setup steps on the printer so that it is essentially a hotspot, the router lists the IP address.  But, I can not go into the printer RUI, nor do the iPads recognize it.

Canon support says it's a router issue.

Thoughts?

Re: Canon MG3620 Wireless Printer Connectivity Issue

My son called this evening and fixed it in ten minutes.  It was a router security conflict.

Welcome to the community, @Cobra1365

Are your iPads and all other devices connected to the same network as the printer?

Did you successfully connect the printer to the wireless router?

Yes, both ipads are connected to the same network.

When I went throught hte set up for the printer, it says the printer connected.  But, neither iPad will recognize it and when I go into the Router settings, it does not show it.

Re: Canon MG3620 Wireless Printer Connectivity Issue

Check to see if the printer has an IP address from the router.

From the printer settings, you should be able to see if the printer has an IP address.

Once you have it, verify if you can ping that IP address. You will need to open a command prompt in order to ping the IP address.

Re: Canon MG3620 Wireless Printer Connectivity Issue

The Printer User Interface shows 192.168.1.11 as the printer IP Address.  But, when I go into the Router Interface, and select "attached devices" it does not show that IP address.

I will try pinging it when I get home this evening.

OK, tried pinging it from my laptop running Windows 7.  "Destination Host Unreachable" is the message I get.

again, IP Address on printer interface is 192.168.1.11

Disable any firewall on the computer and see if you will be able to ping it.

Re: Canon MG3620 Wireless Printer Connectivity Issue

I'm trying to use an iPad.  I have no idea how to take down any firewall that might be on an iPad.

Re: Canon MG3620 Wireless Printer Connectivity Issue

There is no  firewall on my laptop...only network security (username/password) for network.

Re: Canon MG3620 Wireless Printer Connectivity Issue

Your printer should be trying to connect to the router's 2.4ghz frequency. Ensure 2.4ghz is enabled, and using channel 1,6, or 11 on the router - not auto channel. Make sure the printer is close enough to the router, so that it has a strong signal. Some of these wreless radios on printers, are not that strong.

I'm in the router user interface and do not see any way to change the frequency

here is everything that shows up in the Printer User Interface:
