ReadySHARE Printer is connecting, won't print

Hi,

My Cannon MG2100 series is connecting without issue via the Netgear USB Control Center for mac. No indication of a problem except for when i try to print, the printer queue indicates that the printer is offline. . Printer is powered on, USB Control Center indicates that it is connect to my mac.

Any idea how I can resolve?

Thank you for any help.

Re: ReadySHARE Printer is connecting, won't print

I also am having the same problem. My printer is an HP LaserJet 1020. It seemed to work okay last I used it, but this is the first time I'm trying to use it under Mountain Lion. Think there is an issue with compatibility?

castletonron, Usually any major changes in Mac ver. driver can be an issues. Check HP site and/or do HP chat about it. Possible some driver related issues

Re: ReadySHARE Printer is connecting, won't print

It's easy to check if it's a driver -- if it works with direct connection, then it's not a printer driver's problem, but Netgear software's.
I have a similar problem on ML 10.8.2, currently no fix.

Re: ReadySHARE Printer is connecting, won't print

could be a firewall issue on a PC or Mac. Check to see if Firewall is set?
I myself have both Mac's and PC's and although I got Ready Share to work fine on the PC's. The Mac's were never able to connect to printer. I went back to using a LAN connection from printer to router. I have a HP Officejet 6500.

No, it's not firewall. It's just completely broken. Tried on 3 Macs, worked only on desktop Mac with OS X 10.7.2 and NETGEAR USB Control Center 2.0. But only the first time you start the Netgear's app, then you'll have to reboot.

Re: ReadySHARE Printer is connecting, won't print

I would say its a Mac issue. I have a couple Mac's and while I was able to get a couple PC's working with Ready Share for my OfficeJet 6500. I never was able to get either Mac to work. Even with the Ready Share App. I finally just plugged the Officejet back into a LAN port and had no problems connecting all PC's and Mac's to it. Sometimes things that are suppose to make life simpler just don't.

Re: ReadySHARE Printer is connecting, won't print

I am having the same problem, but I have a PC. The printer was working fine when I installed the my WDNR3800 router. I went back a few days later, and I could not print from my PC, but I could print from my labtop that was connected via wifi to my router. Now, I cannot print from any device on the network. The system says that my printer is ready, but when I go to print, I get printer errors and the print jobs stay in the queue. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as this is why I bought this router, to access my printer from all my devices.

Re: ReadySHARE Printer is connecting, won't print

If you are a Mac user NEVER buy netgear. My WNDR3800 PE can not handle a mixed network of a PC Windows XP and an iMac. The advertising that it is compatible with TimeMachine is not correct, the router will drop the AFP connection as soon as the Windows machine logs on to the network.

Ready share printing by Air printing or trough USB connection does not work either. When I install my old and much cheaper Sitecom it works like a charm..

So better by an Apple, Sitecom or an Cisco router instead. None of the firmware updates from x.x.x.18 till version x.x.x.40 has solved any of the above issues and the support tickets I got where closed without delivering a solution. So netgear and Apple not a good match!! Smiley Sad

Re: ReadySHARE Printer is connecting, won't print

I have a top of the line Toshiba Z930 ultrabook and a PC wired to a Netgear WNDR4500. Both run Win7 Ultimate.
It doesnt matter which device I turn on first at the start of the day, when I look at the Netgear USB Control Centre the PC seems to take over "connection" to my Hp Inkjet 1200.
Now when I print from the Ultrabook I can wait for 3-10mins before the printer starts printing. Its very frustrating when you need something quickly.
If Ido I have to get the PC user to shutdown then my Ultrabook printing starts.
Any clues?

Re: ReadySHARE Printer is connecting, won't print

Yeah, it would be nice when Netgear offers new features that they actually work well. I have been struggling with my WNDR3800 for six month! I finally gave up a couple days ago and bought a Linksys (Cisco) router. Wow, what a difference! Even making changes to the setup go much faster. Never understood why any changes you made to a Netgear router like the WNDR3800 required such a long re boot? Maybe its the Firmware? I never actually liked the open source crap Netgear used. I certainly tried out ReadySHARE a couple times with a HP OfficeJet 6500. Never did work on a Mac and PC's were losing connection to it all the time. As for the storage options. Netgear admits it does not support Apple's format for HDD. So unless you use FAT32 or FAT your not going to get PC support. I have learned that if you have a Mac or any Apple product. Your basically going to have to accept that your married to Apple. No third party hardware really supports Apple products well.
Its still a PC world.

Re: ReadySHARE Printer is connecting, won't print

I have HP Laserjet P1102 and in my Netgear DGND4000.
Menu in USB Setting is select Basic.
When try to change this to ReadySHARE Printer, appear me help page with istruction

ReadySHARE Printing
Print Sharing for Windows PCs and Mac Computers with a USB Printer

How It Works?

Step 1: Connect the USB printer to the router’s USB port with a USB printer cable.

Step 2: Install the USB printer driver software on each computer that will share the printer.
If you do not have the driver, contact the company that made the printer to locate and download the latest printer driver software.

Step 3: On each computer that will share the printer, download the NETGEAR USB Control Center utility from http://www.netgear.com/readyshare.

Follow the instructions in the utility to connect to the printer from your computer and print.

but in the router not accept the new change ReadySHARE Printer

My printer work direct connect with USB but not able to print with router Netgear

I use Windows7 with lastest update.
I have last firmware of router Smiley Sad
Windows utility Genie crash after 10 second Smiley Sad

With my ipad is not possible to print with Netgear Ready Share Printer.
