WGR614 v10 won't connect to hotspot

We have wired network hotspots and am paying 90 dollars a month for it. I bought this router but it won't connect with the credentials. The only way is to leave the user name and password as not required and then enter it on the device that i am using through the browser, and only one at a time. I only bought the router so I can use laptop, ps3 and iphone at same time. HELP!

other paying hefty price I think for hotspot, did you use WPA2 or WPA encryption? also do not use access list in the router either ..

Re: WGR614 v10 won't connect to hotspot

We are in Afghanistan. The company is sniperhill and they use microtik wired hotspots. I have talked to a couple of people and they said that Belkin routers were working by configuring as access points rather than routers. When i enter my username/password into the router and it tries to connect the microtik denies the connection (like it knows that it is a router) but will work if I choose that it doesn't require username password, but then it only works on one device at a time. I guess it isn't enough to gouge the troops with $90 a month rates for 56kb but can't take the chance that someone might not be paying. Really frustated because this shouldn't be this hard. Too bad we only have one choice.

I'm not clear but User/pass the WAN side of the router correct? Authentication ISP side

will work if I choose that it doesn't require username password, but then it only works on one device at a time.

I assume you are authenticating on one of the device such as laptop when you say one device at at time? correct?

Right. I can only use my laptop or another device at one time. I don't know why the router won't just handle the authentication.

assume is understatement. trying 3 three without knowing is waste of time.

if network uses PPPoA then it will not work.

I would find out what authentication are used. it seems there might be a compatible issues but with a FACT of what type authentication, you can spend all day , all night there is not solution to it Smiley Happy

Re: WGR614 v10 won't connect to hotspot

definitely all nightSmiley Happy will try to find out but doubt they will be forthcoming. i certainly appreciate your time and will post more when i know more. by the way, weird enough, but after i had made this purchase one of the soldiers i work with bought a tp-link router at the local bazaar, ran the installation disc and his works fine and can use it with all of his different devices at the same time. maybe it requires home cooking, thought i would mention don't know what i can get from it. i went and logged into his router and did not see anything different, weird huh!

Re: WGR614 v10 won't connect to hotspot

https://www.sniperhill.net/faq.php

I don't see any of thing about wired.... service wireless.. and uses http:// to login so not sure the exact of all these..

Can I use SniperHill on my iPad, smartphone or tablet?
There are no special settings required to login on your iPad, iPod, tablet, smartphone, PC or MAC. If you're already logged in on another device, you'll need to logout before logging in on your mobile device or any other machine. To do so, enter logout.sniperhill.net in your browser, then connect and login on your mobile device.

I think you need to get support from your ISP..

Re: WGR614 v10 won't connect to hotspot

I'm in the stan also bro. I have hooked up about 6 wireless routers in the RLB's. Here's what I have been able to figure out.
The only routers I get to work correctly are the non-american company ones. Although I have not tried the Belkin. My CSM has one and I do not know if it works as I try to stay away from him as he is too concerned with uniform policy other then being in a combat zone.
If you get a hodge router, it can be set up like any other. Thing is do not connect it to sniperhill first. Connect it to your computer via cat5 cable (internet cable), set it up and spoof your MAC address. Once you have your passkey and sid set. Unplug the computer from the router. Reboot it and you should be able to connect to the router through your wireless. If you can, turn off the router again and plug in the internet cable from sniper hill to it via the wan port. Once it's powered up you can connect to it via wireless and get out to the internet. You will be required to log on to sniper hill first time. After that you are good to go. If you try to connect to any other sniper hill wireless service outside your rlb. You will be told that you are already logged in and wont be able to access the internet. You must shut off the router if you plan on using any of sniper hills access points, other then your room.
The settings on the routers are no differant then in the states other then the spoofing the MAC. But I have not been able to connect anyone who has an IPAD or IPHONE. From my troubleshooting i think it's the safari browser. But have not confirmed. Been looking for an answer to that for the last month. Feel bad too as many of the soliders came with IPADs and now they are just as good as a nook book reader.
But that's how I have gotten them all to work. Any stateside brand seems to not work. Hope this helps and stay safe and keep that PT belt on.
