losing internet and DND changing to 192.168.1.251

Hello,

We have the wndr4500 connected to BT Infinity Fibre.

Over the lat 2 days some wireless devices are losing internet and if I look the the IP details of the devices it says:

IP Address: 192.168.1.110
subnet: 255.255.255.0
router: 192.168.1.251
DND: 192.168.1.251

Th device is still connected to the internet but can't get internet. The only way to resolve this is a few re-connects to the network or give the device a static IP.

Any advice on what this could be?

Many thanks.

Sorry, where I've typed DND is meant to be DNS of course.

Re: losing internet and DND changing to 192.168.1.251

What would the ip details look like when they have internet?
Where are the devices getting these ip details from?
What device is at 192.168.1.251?

By the way - the device is still connected to the internet, but can't get internet. What exactly does that mean? If it's connected to the internet, how can it not get internet?

Re: losing internet and DND changing to 192.168.1.251

hi, thanks for the reply.

if we take my iphone for example.

usually its:

ip 192.168.1.10
subnet 255.255.255.0
router 192.168.1.1
dns 192.168.1.1

but this sometimes comes up as :

ip 192.168.1.110
subnet 255.255.255.0
router 192.168.1.254
dns 192.168.1.254

The first set is correct, the 2nd set don't let me access internet.

Thanks,

Re: losing internet and DND changing to 192.168.1.251

Likely you are connected to different wifi network

If your router IP is 192.168.1.1 then you should not see 192.168.1.251 or 19.168.1.254

Re: losing internet and DND changing to 192.168.1.251

Hi, the SSID is still NETGEAR20. We live in a detached house and I can't see anyone else's network from our house.

This morning I restarted my router and deleted the network from my iphone.

Once the router was restarted, I scanned on my iPhone and found NETGEAR. I connected to this and the IP details were the incorrect set that doesn't allow me internet./

Re: losing internet and DND changing to 192.168.1.251

Delete all wifi profile on PC and try again

If there is no other SSID near you or none then should have this issues

Makes sure pc is setup to obtain IP and DNS under network properties of wifi adapter

if you only shows your SSID ONLY then 3bars or 4bars would make less to be worried

hi, all profiles have been deleted and then re added. this then happens again.

I'm going to downgrade my router firmware tonight to see if that resolves it.
