NBN connection

Other posts do not answer my so apologies for another post on this issue.

I recently connected to the NBN using the modem/routed supplied by my ISP, but I find it does not have the range or the features of my Netgear D6000, which is now sitting redundant under my desk.

The Netgear modem/router says it is NBN ready on the box, but despite help from my provider when setting up the NBN, the D6000 could not be connected.

I am on a FTTN connection - is there something else required, or can it not actually be connected? If anyone can offer any practical, non-technical help, I’d be grateful. 🙂

Yes, but which NBN does it support? Perhaps not FTTN.

What is an NBN network and is my NETGEAR DSL modem router compatible?

Thank you Michael, you are correct. It is misleading in that case, as it does not say anywhere on the box about working with FTTP, but not FTTN.

Re: NBN connection

You may still be able to use the "redundant" D6000.

There is a manual at the end of this link:

>>>>> D3600 | Product | Support | NETGEAR <<<<<

See the section Set Up Your Modem Router for Cable or Fiber Service.

Be warned though, that the WAN speed is stuck at 100BASE-TX. This may be slower than your new internet service. Most modern kit is at least 1000BASE-TX.
