Is this local (your wifi) access or Anywhere (remote) access?

On my MAC laptop I am using Netgear Genie v2.4.42 and it does not allow me to connect to router with known/confirmed router password.
on my Android phone I am using Netgear Genie v3.1.78 and it also does not allow me to connect to router with known/confirmed password.
on both the MAC and Android phone I can browse to the web Interface of the router and login which allows me to administer all aspects of the router config except Parental controls, this currently says "Not enabled " for Parental Controls, clicking the icon simply takes me to a generic page: https://www.netgear.com/home/services/lpc/
since updating my firmware/genie version I am not able to manage the Parental Controls feature of my router, this was main reason for me to purchase the router.
I am extremly annoyed that to maintain security and benifits from bug fixes for Genie and firmware I have lost one of the main features I require.
