Unregistering my router from Netgear support

I wanted to donate my old R6300 fouter, but realized it's still registered to me here.
The only way I can see to "unregister" it from my Netgear account is to contact support. But it's so old, support says it will charge me.
I see others asking this same question here, but I don't seen an answer. Does anyone know how to handle this situation?

Why bother?
If it is really old then there is nothing in its for the recipient.
They will not be able to claim any support for it.

They would need you login/account details to do that.
What would that information tell them anyway? That you spend too much money on network kit? You wicked person you!
