FVS318G dropping DNS settings every few hours (or minutes)
My Prosafe is loosing the DNS settings every few hours, sometimes every few minutes.
I tried:
- setting up static DNS addresses (instead of retrieving them from the ISP)
- resetting the router to factory defaults - firmware is up to date
nothing helps! I read another similar posting here (from 2015) but as I cannot reply to that one, I am writing a new one.
What I do is to go to "network configuration / broadband status" and click there on "renew" or "release", which, after a few minutes of wating solves the problem (even if it is not clear what the two buttons do (nor is it explained in the online-help).
This is annoying and happens sometimes very often.
Even if the product is quite old (about 7 years) I would like to keep it, as it seems to be rather a matter of software.
Is there any solution to this, or should I throw it away? 😞

Ok, so it seems that nobody at netgear cares about older products. I will look for another brand next time, and will throw this one away. Seven years for an expensive "professional" router is a bit too short as product life time.
