Low transfer speed using PPPoE
Hi,
I have a SRX5308 and I'm experiencing low transfer speeds on my Internet connection. On may I was told by support that the problem was due to a limitation of 90 Mbps on PPPoE connections, and this limitation would be overcomed by further firmware updates (my current firmware is 4.3.3.-6). I've been checking on new firmware updates but is seems that the bug hasn't been fixed yet. Am I right? Is there an expected date for new firmware release?

Hi Dan,
Thank you for the fast reply.
But last firmware's bug fixes list don't include that limitation, am I right?

Re: Low transfer speed using PPPoE
You may post this concern as feature request to the Idea Exchange Board for Business here. Be reminded that adding kudos to the ideas will help as the development team will be reviewing the post that has the most kudos and it might be considered to be added on the future functionality of the product.

Re: Low transfer speed using PPPoE
Hi,
Any news on this topic yet. I've got the same issues using this device on a 240Mbps fibre connection, but will only do 105Mbps Down and 80Mbps up.
Have checked all firmware versions, and still no joy on this.
What is the point NETGEAR, on having a Gigabit firewall if we cant use its potential.
Maybe we can have a dedicated firmware hotfix to resolve this?????

Re: Low transfer speed using PPPoE
Hi jcta,
Welcome to the community! 🙂
NETGEAR has recently released firmware v4.3.5-3 for the SRX5308. I suggest you to upgrade the firmware of your SRX5308 then perform a factory reset and reconfigure it from scratch in order to start clean using the latest firmware version. Check if same problem occurs.
You may download firmware v4.3.5-3 here.

Re: Low transfer speed using PPPoE
Thanks for the update.
I've already applied that firmware version 4.3.5.3 on saturday, Reset the device to factory and tried again but no luck.
I dont even have to apply any rules, All I create is my PPPoE connection to get connected to the outside world, nothing else.
I still only get 105Mbps down and 65-70Mbps up max. All other routers I stick on the end of this connection Using PPPoE get 240Up and 120Down.
Anything else I could try?

Re: Low transfer speed using PPPoE
Just switched ISP plans to one that it is using PPPoE and now I am seeing this same limitation of 105Mbps down. Updated to 4.3.5-3, factory reset, and then configured just the WAN and still have the limit. I am surprised this has been a known issue since November 2016 that still hasn't been addressed by a firmware update.

Re: Low transfer speed using PPPoE
I guess there just aren't enough of us reporting the issue for it to be looked at?
