SRX5308 - DHCP problems
Hi,
Recently the DHCP start to malfunction.
When a PC need an adress it qas refuse (no more leases)
The DHCP range goes from 50 to 253. When restarting the DHCP the logs stats that it writes 202 leases in the lease file. We use 102 addresses.
The lease time is 8 hours. When reducing it to 1 hour the no more leases stopped but in place this errors :
Apr 7 14:10:06 SRX5308 local7.err dhcpd: Abandoning IP address 192.168.0.235: pinged before offer
Apr 7 14:10:06 SRX5308 local7.debug dhcpd: ICMP Echo reply while lease 192.168.0.235 valid.
Seems like the DHCP is trying to reuse current addresses. There's a leat alf of the addresses of the range free.
When a new PC get an address (when its working) it appears in known PC an devices with static addresses hence it's the DHCP that give it the adress.
Normaly there need to be 3 types :
Static (set on PC)
DHCP dynamic (could be different at each request)
DHCP reserved (IP fixed for the Mac Address)
If i'm right.
If somebody could help.

Re: SRX5308 - DHCP problems
Hi Futura,
Welcome to the community! 🙂
Kindly answer the questions below:
a. What is the current firmware version of the SRX5308?
b. Have you tried to reboot the SRX5308?
c. Have you tried to change the DHCP range (for example: 60 to 200) then check if same problem will occur?
d. Have you tried to perform a factory reset on the SRX5308?

Hi,
>a. What is the current firmware version of the SRX5308?
4.2.1-2
> b. Have you tried to reboot the SRX5308?
Yes several times
> c. Have you tried to change the DHCP range (for example: 60 to 200) then check if same problem will occur?
Yes it corrected the problem but as we reduce it after the weekend we've got problems with all the computer tryning to get an address. Then we reset to it's first value and since we didn't get troubles
>d. Have you tried to perform a factory reset on the SRX5308?
No to avoid loosing the setting. We need to save and reload them and if they are the cause it will came back.

Re: SRX5308 - DHCP problems
I suggest you to upgrade the firmware of your SRX5308 from v4.2.1-2 to v4.3.4-2. Afterwards, perform a factory reset on the SRX5308 then reconfigure it from scratch in order to start clean using the latest firmware version. Observe if same problem will occur.
You may download firmware v4.3.4-2 here.
