VPN priority bandwidth solution

Hi All,

I have two sites connected Box to Box IPSec VPN, both sites use FVS336Gv2 firewalls.

Occasionaly the VPN connection becomes slow and there are single ping timeouts.

It seems that the bandwith could be hogged by general internet use.

I know there is no feature to to implement qos on the VPN traffic so I was wondering if I could implement one of the following?

1. Put all the devices that do not use the VPN connection into a lan group and implement Bandwidth limiting on that group, therefore leaving the bandwidth remaining available for the VPN.

2. Get the ISP to install a 2nd service and connect to the 2nd WAN port on the firewall, Set the WAN mode to balanced and use 1 port for the VPN and the second for general internet traffic.

Please could you advise if one of these solutions would work, any tips or pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Gary.

Hi OCS781,

It seems that you already have another post about VPN. Were you able to do the same on this devices? I may recommend you to use the 2nd option that you posted. It will work on that way and more easier to configure.

Re: VPN priority bandwidth solution

Yes I did set the MTU on these firewalls. I will implement solution 2 and report back.

Thanks.
