R8500 - Unable to register router for remote access in Genie app
Unable to successfully register my R8500 router with Genie remote access.
I get the prompt that my router is unregistered but when I try I get a unsuccessful error message telling me to try again later.
I have been trying for weeks... On both WIndows & Mac I get the same unsuccessful message.
The Netgear documentation states it can be done on iOS but nothing appears after login in the list to register.
I had no issues registering the R8500 or RN212 with ReadyCLOUD.
Which leads me to believe there is an issue with the Netgear Genie App.
**I am in network when when trying to register and the device has been factory reset before.
I have been the one and only owner of this router.
I had stopped using it for a while but the bugs seem to be resolved with the WIFI so I am trying to utilize it again.
Using the same email address I used when I previously registered it with.

Re: R8500 - Unable to register router for remote access in Genie app
Still broken months later...
Same error message "enable failed" "server error"
Saw the Alexa integration and thought I would check it out the remote access function again.
As a matter of fact no cloud functions work any longer.
Now connecting the R8500 to ReadyCloud keeps failing...
I had to factory reset my device because of firmware v1.0.2.100 seems to have broken port aggregation with my ReadyNas
Since then I cannot connect the router to ReadyCloud again.
If I had to take a wild guess I would think that the R8500 is only allowed to register once.
And factory resetting the device is messing up my ablity to gain remote access again.
This is only reasonable explanation for the constant issue trying to connect to cloud services..

Re: R8500 - Unable to register router for remote access in Genie app
It ended up being the time on the router.
for whatever reason the time was off and was set to 2003
disabling the pass through and running a router behind router configuration the time was able to be corrected... there was no way to manually set the time in the GUI.
once the time was correct on the router all remote services functioned correctly
oddly enough the Remote Access worked in a router behind router configuration.
Perhaps it will be fixed later but until Netgear fixes pass through and the time error I went back to using the GT-AC5300
