Unable to register router for genie remote access

I just bought this router and now I am trying to turn on remote access from Netgear genie app on iOS and Mac OS X.

From iOS version, when I toggle on for remote access, it always shows Enable failed with server error as the message.

From Mac version, I pick remote access from the dropdown then enter my email + password then after login I see a popup showing the device is not registerd, do you want to register the router. I hit ok then a router login window is showed. I enter login information then hit ok then I see the registration process failed, try again message.

I have no idea what's going on. I did turned on Turn Remote Management On.

Router Firmware Version: V1.1.0.38_1.0.1

R6700v2

Using iOS 10.3.2

Mac OS X 10.12.5

with Netgear Genie

Hi @jfisher5742,

The steps to login remotely from a computer via the Genie app are similar. The link below are the steps on how to setup the Remote Login feature of the Genie app.

Re: Unable to register router for genie remote access

Hi @Retired_Member,

The Remote Management feature is different from the Remote Login feature of the NETGEAR Genie app/program. The link below may help out.

Re: Unable to register router for genie remote access

I have the same issue. I have a R7900p and I have enabled the remote management check mark on the router management web portal under advanced setup. But, from my ginie app,bit will not allow me to either register or turn on remote access. It keeps failing. I called technical support and two people could not help.
I have a R7000 in AP mode as well on the network. I am able to turn on remote access on this R7000 using the app.

Re: Unable to register router for genie remote access

Hi @ShyamTT,

1. What is the firmware version of the R7900P?

2. The Remote Management feature found the router web UI is different from the Remote Login feature of the NETGEAR Genie app.

3. For the Remote Login feature of the Genie app, please check the link below for the steps on how to set it up.

4. For remote Management, check the link below for an overview.

Re: Unable to register router for genie remote access

Hi I am trying to access to the Remote Access Genie on my iphone (outside of my local network).

The app tells me to log on and confirm an email confirmation.  However I do not receive any emails in my inbox or junk mail.  When I click on the resend email box I get "unknown error".

My netgear account details are all correct and working.  I also tried changing my account to a different email address and again still no email received.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
