Insight App and pc portal for OrbiPro6 SXR80 When I configure or troubleshoot via the pc portal via entering in browser the IP address of router, I can see which satellite a device is connected to, or that the device is connected to the router directly. This helps immensely in troubleshooting weak connections or connectivity between devices. Neither the insight pc portal nor the insight app for iPhone provide this level of information. The “Topography” concept in Insight should have forks off of each satellite for devices connected to each satellite, but instead it shows all devices connected directly to the router -which is not true. Can this be improved in the next version of Insight app and pc interface? PS, OrbiPro6 SXR80 is NOT allowed to be entered in “Model” Recommended... input above Thank you.

We're missing the ability to generate CSRs with 2048 bit on the Netgear Business products (like the Smart Manged Plus, Smart Managed Pro, Managed Switches, coming-up Routers like the BR500, and solo the ability to generate self-signed certificates accordingly.

The current suite of SmartCloud products (VPN Router, GC-switches, WAC-access points) does not include an option for Netgear Armor (Bitdefender) with Instrusion Protection System features. Some of Netgear's other products, such as the Nighthawk AC-routers and Orbi Mesh-routers include the Netgear Armor product. It is diffucult to sell the BR-500 product without a Netgear-Armor-like product available as an option. Customers can buy other routers, such as the ASUS RT-series and perform similar wireless-mesh functions using Ethernet backhaul, for lower cost and get the IPS features and protection. See https://www.asus.com/AiProtection/#Supported%20Models.

Hi,
This idea is for Access Point WAC 505/510. The product is not in the list.
In standalon mode, I can schedule different activation times of the wifi.
In Insight Mode, the option disappears and it's impossible to do this.
I can not believe Netgear forgot that. Netgear support and the sales department told me whether or not the POE was enabled on the switch port. It's a joke ?
The scheduling option must be implemented. At the moment, I'm using my WAC505 in standalone mode.

Hi, I would like to Control the roaming. Like a customer with thin or large walls might need diffrent roaming settings for best customer preformance. Something like a SNR setting or RSSI. Or similar control to make client move earlier or later depending on network and pysical limitations per site. Example, i have a customer where the wall between rooms are 1m thick with Iron rebar and steel sheet reinnforced. This customer needs a SNR of 15 to make sure that the client stays just long enough to have enough signal for the next jump.

Hi, The captive portal (powerd by RaGaPa) is not a real captive portal as it allows the guests to provide any email without verification. So users can type any real or fake email and get access to the Internet ! It's a shame to call this a "captive portal". A real authentication must be implemented as soon as possible.

The Models I want to refer to are not listed in this form. Additionally, this form does not let me specify access points that do not exist. I want to suggest improvements to the access points that Negear is calling "Enterprise-grade." You know, the AX600/WAX630, AX3600/WAX620, AX1800/WAX610, etc. They still seem to be consumer-grade to me because they fall short in many ways for use in a mature Enterprise network. In their current state, they cannot even begin to compete with Cisco, Aruba, Mikrotik, and even Unifi for Enterprise-grade features. They still feel like something designed for crappy consumer home networks. Corporate networks use internal DNS. If I name the device in DNS, then its management web interface will not work because if I access the device by its DNS name, the device stupidly forwards my browser to https://www.netgear.com/business/services/aplogincom/. To require a raw IP address for a web interface to work at all is shortsighted. I name all of my devices, both forward and reverse, but you have effectively broken that on purpose. I have to look up the address manually and then enter the address in a browser. Please, do not require raw IP addresses for professional networks that name their devices! There is no way to install a private Certificate Authority (CA) certificate! Instead, you give ugly end-user instructions that each browser should ignore the warnings and to allow the self-signed certificate. Professional private networks often have their own internal certificate authority and distribute that CA certificate to all devices. The device hostname cannot have dots in it. It should be possible to set a hostname with a dot in it that is still not fully qualified. This helps when you want a device to tell a DHCP server that it should be named inside of a subdomain, for networks that automatically name their DHCP clients. Email alerts configuration requires an SMTP Auth username and password. This should not be required! Professional networks often host internal mail servers authenticate by IP address, not by username. They allow all mail sent from internal devices. This is especially helpful for network management which should never need to be bound to a personal e-mail account just to send device alerts. The Wireless MAC Filter does not provide a way to reject all private MAC addresses with a simple mask. Professional networks often do not allow obfuscated/random private mac addresses (these addresses have the second bit of the first byte turned on, bitmask: 02:00:00:00:00:00). Enterprise networks are secure and trusted and have the prerogative to not trust unknown devices. Enterprise network administrators may require tracking who is on their network. It is their network, after all, so they should be able to enforce that. Private MAC addresses should be for on untrusted networks. Thankfully, RADIUS authentication is supported, but using RADIUS credentials to manage the device is not possible. I have to rely on a shared device password for that. There isn't a way to manage an army of these access points without subscribing to Insight. Enterprise APs should let companies run a local controller if they have the resources and choose to do so. Your Insight live demo doesn't even work -- it errors out with a e-mail and password failure. Bug: If I Disable "Traffic Shaping," my traffic is still limited for some reason. I have to explicitly set it to 999 to get it to not be limited, but 802.11ax is supposed to be able to go faster than that. Misnomer: "Traffic Shaping" does not mean simple rate limits. What you are doing should be called "Rate Limiting," not "Traffic Shaping." If you want to allow for traffic shaping, then please provide actual QoS/DSCP identification and queue priorities. These devices do not implement QoS/DSCP and queues, so do not call it Traffic Shaping. Complaint: the manual daylight saving setting is a pain, but I get it, you're trying to save space. It might be nice to include only the most common timezones for the markets in which you sell these devices. I'm sure I might encounter many other places where these devices fall short from being Enterprise-grade, but I feel like I want to go back to using actual Enterprise products instead of wasting my time with these. Netgear: If you ever actually read this, thanks for listening to feedback.

I was informed by support that UPnP cannnot be turned off if we use insight. Many folks like to keep UPnP off for security reasons. If it is needed for insight then perhaps you can add some additional options so that it is active in a limited scope. Example, only allow Insight to utilize this

Hi, Please add Brasil region support for Insight. I have several locations and besides the USA I have Apartment complex in Brasil which I cannot change wireless region to Brasil. I get region does not match default device location. I planned to add to the existing 4 indoor and outdoor WAX610/y units, but if I cannot comply with telecom wireless rules of country, I will be forced to change vendors. Support solution is currently run in USA region to keep insight management. Side note while Brasil is in Insight list AP’s cannot be changed using web UI and locked to USA. I have offices tied together with VPN and would like to keep everything in place and grow upon what we currently have. Any suggestions from anyone to this with a workaround would be appreciated if Netgear cannot add this support feature. Thanks everyone!!

Fast roaming works great for my 3 WAX 610 AP's on my home network for mobile devices. However, I have some legacy Smart Home devices (light strips that are not mobile) that lose their conection after a number of days and need a hard reset when fast roaming is enabled. I would like to have features to either define a unique SSID for only a single AP (not all 3), or alternatively, be able to disable fast roaming for either specific SSID's or perhaps for 2.4GHz communications. WAX610 and WAX610Y both with 9.5.1.20

We have an email inbox for the status of all system alerts, all software we use on other sites correctly identifies the system alerting and the device and status in the subject so we can react to the information as soon as it comes up, with the exception of the Insight alerts. Would it possible for some kind developer in the Insights system to add the device name label to the front of each alerting email's subject line so we can have a full set of systems working like this without having to go through each individual email body text to see what it relates to, please ?

Please update the version of tcpdump that's included in the WAC720 and WAC510 access point (and other WiFi routers/access points). The version currently installed relies on a buggy libpcap that incorrectly processes the Prism radio header. As a result, running a packet capture on the radio interface results on undecodable frames. Please note that the problem is in the pcap library, not tcpdump (the pcap library is static linked into tcpdump). This is the version of tcpdump currently installed:
# tcpdump -V tcpdump version 3.9.8 libpcap version 1.1.1
This is what happens when the current version of tcpdump is run on a radio interface (notice the decodes are useless):
# tcpdump -i mon0 -n
tcpdump: WARNING: mon0: no IPv4 address assigned tcpdump: verbose output suppressed, use -v or -vv for full protocol decode listening on mon0, link-type PRISM_HEADER (802.11 plus Prism header), capture size 96 bytes 16:25:39.368772 [|802.11] 16:25:39.395357 [|802.11] 16:25:39.396201 [|802.11] 16:25:39.408759 [|802.11] 16:25:39.415976 [|802.11] 16:25:39.416788 [|802.11] 16:25:39.448778 [|802.11]
This is an updated version of tcpdump:
# /tmp/tcpdump -V tcpdump version 4.7.4 libpcap version 1.7.3
This is what happens if I use an updated version of tcpdump (notice the decodes are sensible):
# /tmp/tcpdump -i mon0 -n tcpdump: verbose output suppressed, use -v or -vv for full protocol decode listening on mon0, link-type PRISM_HEADER (802.11 plus Prism header), capture size 262144 bytes 16:26:44.309540 Probe Request (Carioca_5G) [6.0 9.0 12.0 18.0 24.0 36.0 48.0 54.0 Mbit] 16:26:44.319537 Probe Request (Carioca_5G) [6.0 9.0 12.0 18.0 24.0 36.0 48.0 54.0 Mbit] 16:26:49.047216 Probe Request () [6.0* 9.0 12.0* 18.0 24.0* 36.0 48.0 54.0 Mbit] 16:26:49.048028 Acknowledgment RA:9c:3d:cf:ea:67:69 16:26:49.087172 Probe Request () [6.0* 9.0 12.0* 18.0 24.0* 36.0 48.0 54.0 Mbit] 16:26:49.088047 Acknowledgment RA:9c:3d:cf:ea:67:69 16:26:49.127191 Probe Request () [6.0* 9.0 12.0* 18.0 24.0* 36.0 48.0 54.0 Mbit] 16:26:49.127972 Acknowledgment RA:9c:3d:cf:ea:67:69
