I find it insane that the Orbi does not support any secure DNS protocols like DNS over TLS or HTTPS. I am not sure if I had bought this product had I realized that. Please add this to your backlog.

Routers like Ubuiquiti allow devices on main VLAN to initiate connection with devices on IoT VLAN, but protect devices on main VLAN from IoT devices being able to connect to them. Unfortunately Network Isolation feature in Orbi Routers isolates all devices on VLAN so that no device outside VLAN can connect them. This is too limited and makes the feature of separating IoT devices into a separate IoT VLAN almost useless, because way too often devices on Default VLAN (e.g. Phone or Laptop) need to connect to IoT devices to be able to control them. The only way to achieve this is by disabling Network Isolation feature, which then completely negates the whole security value of IoT VLAN separation. I am quite disappointed that an Orbi Pro range of routers does not have such a simple firewall rules definition capability. IoT VLAN is presented as a major security feature of the router that on the surface makes sense, but only when used in reality turns out to be totally unusable the way it is currently implemented in Orbi Pro Routers. I really hope a firmware update is released to correct this major flaw.

It make zero sense to me that Netgear would offer to separate out an IoT network to put all of ones smart home devices on and then advertise the IoT network to all by not hiding it. My crappy cable modem can hide networks. It seems to me a network no-one knows is there might be more secure.

I love this system but lacking these feature to increase the privacy and security is really a shame. There is a possibility to add this in the future?

Hello, This is more of a bug finding than an idea. (Netgear Support asked that I post here. Apologies is this is the incorrect spot.) When I recently added the Alexa Netgear skill to my Echo Dot, it added two Netgear devices. The problem was I only own a single Netgear device now, which is registered on my.netgear.com. (I had previously owned the other device and returned it, then removed it from my list of registered devices.) I came to the conclusion that the database that the Alexa Netgear skill uses includes unregistered devices, bringing over ghosts from registrations past. Also, these devices, since they don't actually exist on your network, cause delay problems for users of the Alexa Netgear skill (they did for me), because the phantom devices don't respond. My request is that the Alexa Netgear skill team keep their list of registered devices in sync with those that are in my.netgear.com. This will improve the usability of the skill and reduce device clutter in the Alexa app. Many thanks in advance, Steve

I'd like to see in the app a back haul status, even if it were a simple color coded line connecting the satellite to the router as shown on the network map. Better would be some tangible measure of signal strength or bandwidth

I'm getting notified every single time a device connects and ever single time it scans a device and find NO PROBLEM. There should be a setting to notify ONLY when a problem is found. I'm afraid that if I disable notifications from the app, then I will not know if a problem is ever detected....but sadly that is apparently what I need to do now.

The orbi does not provide wpa2 only security on the main orbi network. This causes issues with older printers. The option for wpa2/3 will not work where a device is unable to negotiate the correct security handshake. The setting needs to be explicitly wpa2 for older printers to work

Hi I would like to have the option to completely disable the Wireless Backhaul on the Orbi Pro. We can do so on the WACD and WAX but not on the Orbi Pro. The reason for me is that I see Satellites wired connected to a switch with one uplink to the network where the Orbi Router is on. When that switch need to be restarted you will get a loop as the Satellite will connect via the WiFi Backhaul to the Router as long as the switch boots but at a certain moment the switch is back online and the Satellite is still on the WiFi Backhaul. The result can be that the on switch the uplink port to the network will get disabled by STP. So sometimes when the Satellites are connected over a wire you might want to disable the WiFi Backhaul. Please implement tag based vlan functionality on the internal switch of the Orbi Pro router/satellites. The product is meant for 'Pros'...so this should be no deal. When using a Netgear switch behind the Orbi Pro it would be a great benefit for the 'Pro Users' to be able to utilize tag based VLAN ports on the Orbi. Currently, different VLANs being configured on one switch can not be mapped to the Orbi router due to the fact that one port on the router can only belong to one VLAN at a time. A proper VLAN membership configuration and PVID configuration per port is needed. Addition: The term 'Trunk' port is used differently on the Orbi Pro than it it used on the Netgear switches, which can be (and is) confusing.

Using the SXK80 we should be able to activate the desired radios for each Wireless network configuration individually. For instance if we want to use Wireless 3 only on 2.4 GHz we want to be able disable the 5GHz radio for Wireless 3. Configuration could go similar like this: <Checkbox> Enable SSID separation for 2.4GHz/5GHz Wireless 3 Network Name (SSID) : (2.4GHz) IoT-2.4GHz <Checkbox> Disable 2.4GHz radio Wireless 3 Network Name (SSID) : (5GHz) IoT-5GHz <Checkbox> Disable 5GHz radio

I had opened a ticket asking for the ability to trunk multiple vlans out a single port to allow easier management of devices on each vlan, this seems like its not possible today, the alternative to this request is to just install SSH on the router. With SSH enabled on the router I can create dynamic tunnels through the router to the other networks without even needing to make any port changes. I am actually shocked that the orbi only supports Telnet, there is no reason in 2022 that the only CLI management is Telnet. Dropbear is already installed on the device, we should be allowed to choose SSH or telnet.

What if we could have a superuser network that could cut across network isolation? Scenarion: - wireless 1: owner's network (superuser) - wireless 2: a network for guests, with network isolation Disired outcome: - How can wireless 1 see devices on wireless 2? - How can we ensure wireless 2 has no visibility of devices on wireless 1? I want W2 guests to be able to access Sonos, lights, fans that would be on W2, but not devices set on W1. All this while enabling W1 (superuser) to see IoT devices on any network.

Orbi Pro AX1800 WiFi 6 Mini Router(SXR30), V3.2.33.108 Current limitation requires that the DMZ host be on LAN 1 (VLAN 1) instead of allowing us to use any of the configured LANs. Considering that LAN 1 is supposed to be your most secure network for your administrative users, it seems odd that if we need a DMZ host be open to the Internet that we also have to open it to our securest network... I'd like to be able to create a VLAN specifically for my DMZ host, associate it with a different LAN (eg, LAN 5), and then setup the WAN port to send traffic to the DMZ host.

The SXR80 v3.3.0.122 does not currently support VLAN's in AP mode. There are settings for it, but it doesn't work. I suggest that VLAN support should work like it does on your smart switches. Add support for specifying 802.1Q mode. Each of the wireless networks should be treated like a network port. Each port should have a PVID, and be configurable as trunk or uplink for each of the VLANs.

Hello firmware team, Please consider implementing a common tactic: outbound filtering. This would help with both router behind router and security filtering as well as network isolation over a common gateway. The much nicer approach would be multiple IP inbound binding with the gateway and with associated mac addresses for each vlan link, but I'm guessing that requires a hardware change. Best regards, Mike US Robotics has a good explination https://support.usr.com/support/9114/9114-ug/security_ipout.html

Dear Netgear & Orbi Pro Supporter I recently bought the Orbi SXR80 router and want to use VPN to remotely connect to my office. But I am amazed that the certificates for the connection cannot be changed in the administration interface. VPN is unusable because if the certificate falls into the wrong hands, anyone can connect to my device via VPN. This happens quickly if a cell phone is lost or stolen. Why not add a function to change the certificate? This should be very easy to do. According to the following link, this was apparently already planned: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi-Pro-WiFi-for-Small-Business/Orbi-Pro-SRK60-Revoke-OpenVPN-client-certificate/m-p/2139485 This function is also required by other users: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi-Pro-WiFi-for-Small-Business/How-to-renew-VPN-private-key/m-p/1689399 I urgently ask you to install this function, because without a VPN switched on is a major security problem! Kind regrads Carlos
