Not having a way to clearly understand what VLAN the device is communicating on is a terrible security flaw... essentially then anyone on the untrusted VLAN simply has to guess one password and then is able to completely reroute any traffic by retagging ports and changing membership. In addition, the device appears to be sending out DHCP requests on all VLANs, so it is receiving IPs from random VLANs as well, so impossible to manage from the trusted network. As an aside, I also have Smart Managed Pro switch, much more expensive and many more features. This is the ONLY feature that needs to be added to make this is a "basic" managed switch. (Keep in mind this is a 10gbe product as well). Without this, however, there is a clear security issue since the only thing protecting the network is a single password.

Hi, The lack of L3 DHCP Relay on the S3300 switch is quite problematic. We're facing situations where a site is equipped with a router managed by third party. Ideally, we would like to cable the site with only a stack of S3300 switches but since they do not support L3 DHCP Relay, we would also have to include a router or server handling either direct or relayed DHCP. The S3300 can have a routing table, an L3 address and supports a default gateway.. Could the Netgear team look into adding the support for L3 DHCP Relay as well? Thanks, Justin

Currently, as soon as you plug in a single PoE device FAN's start turning at 50% even though the load is only 2w. Maybe this can be configurable, or better tuned based on the temperature of the switch. We just replaced a GS310TP with a GS324TP for port density and the noise is quite disrupting in an open office space. Cheers, Eelco

I'm requesting SNMP support be made available through a software/firmware upgrade in the next release. I had an old GS108 that had basic SNMP capability, I thought I'd upgrade and the EMX seemed like a great fit. I was disappointed to find no SNMP support so I can't tie this into my existing visibility tools.

Hello my name is Peter and I posted some requests about essential functions on the GS1xxE series of switches.
It seems there have been some ideas posted here but there is no respons whether these things are being
implemented or not or any timeframe given.
I personally had a request about adding a menu in the GS1XXE switches to enter some allowed mac addresses to prevent
a user to connect some rogue equipment on the network.
Could it be that the chipset does not support such functionality!
Couldn't you post back that the engineers are working with this, this and this function and it will be ready in 1-3 months or something.
Anyways a definitive answer would be appreciated so that I may peruse other brands that has similar 5-port switches.
Regards
Peter

Dear ladies and gentlemen,
I have several Netgear Switches. Two of them are the GS750E and the JGS524Ev2.
I am using port-based VLANs and wanted to create a 4-Port LAG connection between them.
On the GS750E I create a LAG with 4 ports as port members.
After that I remove the ports that are members of the LAG from the VLAN and add the LAG to the VLAN instead.
the GS750E has FW Version 1.0.0.22.
When I want to do the same on the JGS524Ev2 there is no possibility under "VLAN/port-based/advaced" to add the LAG to the VLAN.
It would be very great if you could realize this feature in the next FW release of the JGS524Ev2. I am just using the latest FW!
Thanks a lot !!

When there was given point that these series of switches (vlan capable) has serious security flaw, because switch management interface is listening across all untaged ports, no matter of its vlan ID, your reply was : "This is by design and not a limitation of the GS108Ev3 switch since its category is a ProSAFE Plus Gigabit switch which adds a configuration layer to the standard unmanaged switch."
So please enlight us, what kind of designers designed this and how can you named it "Prosafe Plus" , because it's excatly the opposite.
Puprose of vlans in switch like this is to make separate L2 segments and prevents parties on different segments to communicate between each other and i guess we can agree on that. Unfortunatelly thanks to your design, switch manageent is accessible to each party, just set up the right IP range and bingo, you can access the web and whole security is downgraded just to the security of switch web page and it's password. I still think that you can't be serious about this. This is serious security design flaw. You can't leave security of the l2 network segments relay just on "unbreakable" switch web management.

Hello,
with 24 ports, I think it would be a nice idea to ha the possibility to write describing labels on the web-interface of the configuration, like: NAS1, Camera23, ecc.

Hello there my name is Peter.
I would like a function to be added to these series of switches that prevents a rouge user to connect equipment to any port and gain access to the network or disturb/bring it down with maybe a CAM overflow attack.
It would work such that if an unreasonable amount of connection attempts with different mac adresses occurs - it disables that port or something.
A better idea would be to use DHCP snooping in the switch so we could enter allowed MAC and IP adresses in the router instead.
I know that switches like GS108Tv2 probably supports this however there is no GS105T small 5-port version available so I am forced using GS105Ev2 instead which is a nice little switch indeed.
If DHCP snooping is too complex maybe you could add a little menue instead so we could enter a couple of MAC adresses allowed on each port.
Thanks sincerely
Peter

You have 2 device compatibilities so far, please add M4300 8x-8f (XSM4316S) to the S3300/M4300 firmware pair! https://kb.netgear.com/000049533/Smart-M4300-S3300-Stacking-Notes-and-Restrictions?article=000049533 The link above provides context to the question and idea. Thanks!

Hello, Would it be possible to add LLDP support in the firmware for 300 Series Plus Switch (GS316EPP) and other models in this serie? The tabletop form factor and high poe-budget makes these switch ideal for me. However I am having trouble with IP phones and AP's that require poe+. My devices check the switch poe/poe+ capability bij LLDP. Now I have to set the poe-settings of my devices manually which is time consuming. Sincerely, Jozef

Hello Netgear engineers, Could you please consider 2 things about firmware KB pages (I'm interested in M4300s but this is general request): 1. Clearly mention Firmware release date, because we cannot rely on Article last modified date. As an example, firmware 12.0.17.10 is having an older date https://kb.netgear.com/000065410/M4300-Firmware-Version-12-0-17-10 than for an older firmware 12.0.17.9 https://kb.netgear.com/000065245/M4300-Firmware-Version-12-0-17-9 or even 12.0.17.7. Time elapsed between 2 firmware release is an indication of whether the firmware seems stable or not. 2. What is the best recommended firmware to use in a series (such as M4300) for Production usage. The latest firmware 3 weeks ago is most probably not the recommended one, and we're kind of lost when seeing 4 firmwares released in a quarter (most probably. can't be sure as no creation date is mentionned), mixing both bug fixes and new features in same time (classically bringing new bugs) FYI, I've raised support ticket 46843940 for the same, been advised to publish here as having also for publicity. Thanks. Regards, Olivier

Please allow for temperature alerts and also custom temperature alerts for Netgear switches. I'd like to be able to have a temperature alert sent to the IT team of an overheating switch while also having an automated email sent to the site manager for their awareness. This feature would be great for Insight-managed switches or any switch for that matter. Temperature alerts are critical and can be a business stopper.

Currently, you can allow all VLAN's on a switch trunk port using basic 802.1Q mode. In this mode you cannot set a PVID or native vlan on the switch port, and any untagged traffic falls into an unconfigurable dead-end VLAN 4094. In advanced 802.1Q mode, you can set a PVID, or native VLAN on a trunk port, however to allow all VLAN's you have to configure each VLAN manually - up to a limit of 64. Most vendors have an option to setup a trunk port to allow ALL VLANs, while setting a native VLAN on the port. Use Case 1: Scalability. You can deploy several switches in a network, and not have to manually add VLAN's to every switch when additional subnets are created. Use Case 2: Troubleshooting tool or network tap. You can insert this switch between a PoE device and an existing switch, and mirror the bi-directional traffic to a monitor port while maintaining the uplink to the existing switch. Good when you don't know what VLAN's are in use on the existing equipment.

Hello, For this small PoE Switch, it would be good to provide the following possibilities: -To be able to configure the fixed speed of a port at 1000 Mbit/s this choice of speed is currently not possible. -To be able to specify the VLAN of the administration interface of the Switch. -In the PoE --> "Power Cycle Ports" section, only the ports delivering power should be displayed instead of all the ports. -It would be nice to have the ARP/Mac Table displayed in the web interface. With best regards.
