Hi,
It has been suggested that I submit this increased functionality request to improve the switches capability on its accessing frequency when updating its system time from an SNTP server.
Most other manufacturers allow access times up to 1000's of hours. I normally update various network appliances either once a day or once a month, which is fine for most instances. However, this doesn't appear possible with my GS724T switches. The maximum polling time results, in my case, with a Kiss Of Death response due to too many update requests. The only work around is possibly using a DNS access to an SNTP server pool, as opposed to accessing a fixed time server IP address.
I would have just put up with this problem but
DaneA from the NETGEAR Community Team suggested I raise this as a functionality request!
I did look into having my own SNTP server but the cost is prohibitive.
Regards PAH
Last update from the NETGEAR Community Team shown below for info.
: How do you set the update frequency when using an SNTP sever to synchronize time on a GS724T ...
Hi PAH,
Since there is no option to manually configure the frequency of when the GS724Tv3/4 will access the SNTP servers, I suggest that you post this concern as feature request in the Idea Exchange board for Business here. Be reminded that adding kudos to the ideas will help as the development team will be reviewing the post that has the most kudos and it might be considered to be added on the future functionality of the product.
Regards,
DaneA

Summer Time Configuration improve the description of the fields to be "Offset Minutes" instead of just "Offset" because this is misleading as one assumes "Hours" (as it is in "Time Configuration") also slightly better "Time Zone Name" instead of just "Zone" (as it is in "Time Configuration")

fallsfal It appears no longer possible to configure ReadyNas to use Backblaze Amazon s3 backup per https://help.backblaze.com/hc/en-us/articles/1260804505130-How-to-use-Netgear-ReadyNAS-with-Backblaze-B2, I suspect that direct use of Amazon S3 fails as well but haven't tested that. I received this response from Backblaze support: The requirement for V4 signatures is indeed a part of the S3 compatible API. The older versions have been deprecated and as a result, we have stopped supporting them. Unfortunately, I am not able to troubleshoot their device and it's utilities. I would recommend reaching out to their support to see if there is a way to update or alter the signature they are using. Apologies for not being able to be more help there.

Please, enable VLAN Management option on GS108Ev3 switches. This is a required security feature that will not change the CPU loading. Currently it only allow to change the switch IP address on VLAN 1. Thank you!

Most Smart Managed Pro including cloud manageable switches (many more than the ones tagged) offer a comprehensive list of DoS checks to enable/disable individually. It does not help much just showing that a port was shut down due to DoS. We need much more information on the DoS event detected in the logs. We had several reports and queries in the community on why ports were shut down unexpectedly. ....

Hi, The lack of L3 DHCP Relay on the S3300 switch is quite problematic. We're facing situations where a site is equipped with a router managed by third party. Ideally, we would like to cable the site with only a stack of S3300 switches but since they do not support L3 DHCP Relay, we would also have to include a router or server handling either direct or relayed DHCP. The S3300 can have a routing table, an L3 address and supports a default gateway.. Could the Netgear team look into adding the support for L3 DHCP Relay as well? Thanks, Justin

We recently had to replace a GS752TP and we received a GS752TPv2. Support informed us that the GS752TPv2 is not fully supported in NMS300, which we use for schedule configuration backups. We would like to have support for this.

Hi, Having multiple M4100 and GSM7228 switches where device view is not working due to Java support in the webbrowser. Althought there should be a work arround with installing an old java and using IE11 this is not an ideal solution. I had simular issue with HP 2910 switches, HP made a new Aruba firmware for this switch and is now fully web-managed. I see a lot of people with the same issue in the ICT businnes with no proper solution. Spending € 1400 for a new switch which require an old Java is not done. Kind regards, Steven

All Smart Managed Pro switches must use the same configuration file and logic, old config files must be workable on newer switches.

Having recently (less than 18 months) deployed multiple GS728TPP switches, and now deploying new offices with the Insight management series, it would be great to have a firmware update to allow these older switches to be managed.
I would be willing to pay for the firmware upgrade for this functionality! (rather than have to replace each switch!)

When trying to set a global timer schedule on a FS728TLP switch it looks like you are unable to set schedules that stretch beyond the 'Shutdown Time Start' of the 'Date Start' field. (attaching screenshot of error message)
An example of the situation one of customers would like to utilise:
We would like to have the PoE ports power off for the evening and come back online the following morning, i.e. ports should power down at 4pm in the evening and come back online the following morning at 7am.
This is not possible with this caveat that exists on the FS728TLP switch. The FS728TPv1 and FS728TPv2 are capable of setting these requirements.
Can this feature be added for the FS728TLP switch?

The 802.1AS firmware for the GS724T switch already handles almost everything needed for full 1588 support, it would be useful to add the capability to use layer 3 transport for the 1588 timestamps so that the GS switch could work as a 1588 transparent clock in IP based systems, not just layer 2 802.1AS transport.

The XS series switches only support L2 hashing with LACP (802.3ad), apparently only the managed switches support anything beyond L2. The ReadyNAS units support L2, L2+L3, and L2+L3+L4 out of the box.
Could the upper tier web managed switches please have at least L2+L3 support added? I'm not talking about going crazy and adding more than that. Should be a relatively minor change, the UI changes would likely be more involved than the protocol changes.
It should be a big benefit to the ReadyNAS users.

web gui is very confusing and if you dont know netgear much you dont find settings like dns etc quickly. so add a search option (javascript, browserside) which allows to quickly search in an index the setting page.. so searching for "dns" will show me the page where i can set dns settings. also add option to quickly open context in cli on each page, so i can click a button which shows this context part in cli, which can be edited in browser like notepad or sth else. or a small cli popup.

as we all dislike downtimes we need a simple restart if updating to a new firmware. a) just switchover during run if change is quite simple and restart some services b) restart but keep on switching but just do some basic things like vlan etc if this is possible by hardware. means a kind of fallback switching if cpu is restarting, many tasks shouldnt need cpu. c) add an option to restart switch without letting ports go down so server wont notice downtime. so they will just timeout i know these ideas are not really useful, but maybe an inspiration in optimizing the update downtime. also a faster reboot could be nice without all h/w inis. also reboot should be timed on special countdown in minutes or on special time/date setable over html GUI. so it can be planned. also if boot fails it should recover to old fw, for doing so it should force user to login to web gui and say ok worked otherwise it would reboot to old fw
