Given that this is marketted as a 'Pro' poduct I was surprised at the simplistic functionality offered withthe DHCP server. Can I suggest you consider offering the follow options, which seem pretty basic to me: Allow domain name for LAN to be set and also to be displayed on the web interface Allow DHCP options such as DNS servers and Time servers to be set for DHCP clients Allow lease period to be controlled

I've just added a GS108Ev3 to my network, to add to an existing GS116Ev2. I am very disappointed to see that the 108 does not support a port description field which is present in the 116. Can this not be added?

Please look to add Port Description naming to the gs305e managed switch. With lots of devices and switches using port numbers is cumbersome.. names would be more efficient to manage.

The GS110TP supports only a max SSL key length of 2048 bits. This is a real problem for modern PKI infrastructures where - at least - the CAs almost always use a 4096 bit key length.
Given that the GS110TP is still sold today I hope hat this could be corrected in a (near) future firmware update.

The GS105E v2 (5 port) and GS116E v2 (16 port) switches have the ability to disable Energy Efficient Ethernet (IEEE 802.3az) in the web interface via: System > Management > Power Saving Mode, Enable/Disable This option is missing from the GS108E v3 (8 port) switch. Can this be addressed in a future firmware update?

Problem statement: GS324T deactivates the port due to suspected DDoS, but most likely it is a false positive - tuning is not really possible due to the missing information (in the log) about the reason(s). The Switch log shows only one line: <11> Apr 11 04:55:29 Main Home Switch-1 DOS[dtlTask]: dos_api.c(1928) 2115 %% ERR Interface g12 has been shutdown by DOS attack notification. Based on the reply on my post in the forum here, it looks like there is no possibility to have more information in the log, and identify the real reasons, what exactly has triggered the port deactivation. Hence, there is no possibility to "tune" the DDOS settings and avoid the "False Positive". In other words: only "blind" tuning possible. Ask: To have the possibility to get more details about DDoS to the log e.g. by having different log level for DDoS, up to the additional information what exactly / what "active" parameter in DDoS settings has triggered the port deactivation. Thanks, Andrey

Hello, the DHCP server is a bit "basic". Would it be possible to integrate some Options in the BR500 router and be able to manage them in the Insight portal. This would be a great advantage to maintain small sites with SIP phones. Option 2 (Time Zone Offset) Option 4 (Time Server) Option 60 (vendor ID) Option 66 (TFTP or HTTP server in stringvalue) Option 114 (URL) Option 120 (P-CSCF address) Thank You, Edouard

I recommend that Netgear allow the Orbi Pro models to the ability to disable wifi radios at user's option for the following reasons: Simple update for Netgear/Orbi - Currently, Orbi software allows wifi radio strength choices of 100%, 50%, 25%...they should add an option for 0%/Off. It woudn't cost Netgear anything to provide the 0%/Off option as it only requires a modification to an existing field. It provides the User the option/choice rather than Netgear/Orbi making the choice for the user. Netgear/Orbi should place security as one of their highest priorities, and providing this option would reflect that as ethernet-only wired systems are generlly more secure than wifi. Netgeat provides this option on almost all of their other routers, so why not provide consistency and allow this as an option and give the user the same flexibility as other competing routers such as TP-Link, Linksys, and Asus. Consequently, I don't understand the resistance to doing so as it's an easy fix, increases security, and provides users the same option they have with other competing routers. Since you already provide an option for radio strength down to 25%, why not add an addtional selection for 0%/Off? Some users only use wifi occaisionally or alternatively would like to occaisoinaly diable wifi for security and/or interference reasons, and such an option would allow users to so turn it on when needed, and off when not needed. Wifi is not as secure in dense city areas and sometimes creates interference with other devices/systems, thus it would be prudent to allow the user to have the option to disable the wifi radios when needed...just give the user the choice.

Hello:
The GS105PE switch is a great idea and potential problem solver. Unfortunately, due to one design flaw, it is only "almost" useful.
There are a few different switches that support PoE Passthrough on a single port. What makes this switch so awesome is that it has two ports. With an 802.3at (PoE+) feed, there is enough power to power two devices of common PoE types (for example, two PoE telephones). Of course, with this its also potentially possible to plug in two devices that use too much power and end up overloading the feed port. Fortunately, MOST poe devices out there do not have this problem.
Unfortunately, this switch is hamstrung by a design choice: the overload problem is solved by PoE class limitations rather than actual current limits. In order to use both ports, you have to plug in class 1/2 devices, if you have even one class0 or class3 device, then you only get one. Period. Even if that device only wants 2.5w.
This is a more extreme problem than it appears because most PoE PE chip makers have switched to only making class 3 chips. Thus most devices advertise class 3, even if they only need class 2. Except for this switch, this is no issue, as normal PoE switches regulate by combined power, not class. That's why I can get an 8 port 60W PoE switch that supports class 3. At full class 3, that allows nearly 13 watts per port, or 104W for all 8 ports.
It appears Netgear used this worst-case design method when designing this device. Please correct this huge oversight and just use power limiting rather than class-based limiting. It would be fine to shut off the port output and flash the power light if the total available budget is exceeded. Without that, this becomes a single-port PoE passthrough, not the two port its advertised as.

I've had an unfair share of trouble when trying to restore saved configuration files (.cfg config) to GS108Ev2 running firmware 1.00.12. Eventually, I gave up and reprogrammed 3 switches from scratch. I had to go through the whole building to locate them. Brought with myself a laptop and had a phone handy to talk to a guy in the control room.
I think I found out what happened: Older versions of the Plus Utility do not support the password encryption required by V1.00.10 firmware. The old config files had unencrypted passwords (I checked with a hex editor). The new firmware expects its password encrypted, so it couldn't load the old password. I was locked out of the switches.
A cleartext header in the config file could help, so the switch (or the user!) knows which firmware version saved the config. If you want to make it really functional, have the firmware perform appropriate checks at load (restore) time, so old unencrypted passwords keep on working on new firmware versions.

So I recently bought an Netgear WAX206 through the Amazon Canada store, but the wireless controls are region locked to United States with no option for me to change this. I understand the reasoning that you want to make it easier for the customer and potentially not break any laws by broadcasting out of range wireless signals, but this is poor design. I don't know what steps can be done now to unlock the region setting so I can select Canada. It also causes a problem for resale as well. Can you please resolve this issue. Thanks!

I own an XS724EM 24-port 10G switch. It runs warm to the touch, and the default fan profile seems to err on the side of low noise rather than cooling. Tech support says that the switch is designed to spin down fans entirely unless a certain temperature threshold is reached. Personally, I would prefer to see more aggressive cooling, even if meant slightly more fan noise. So my feature request is twofold: Basic temperature monitoring (ambient, internal) in the admin GUI. All I want is a simple readout of how warm the switch currently thinks it is. Basic manual fan control in the admin GUI. I'm envisioning something like the "Cool/Balanced/Quiet" drop-down menu (see image) found on ReadyNAS units. I know the managed switches have functionality along these lines. To me, this basic temperature monitoring and control seems like it should definitely be included on Smart/Plus switches too.

Dear Netgear & Orbi Pro Supporter I recently bought the Orbi SXR80 router and want to use VPN to remotely connect to my office. But I am amazed that the certificates for the connection cannot be changed in the administration interface. VPN is unusable because if the certificate falls into the wrong hands, anyone can connect to my device via VPN. This happens quickly if a cell phone is lost or stolen. Why not add a function to change the certificate? This should be very easy to do. According to the following link, this was apparently already planned: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi-Pro-WiFi-for-Small-Business/Orbi-Pro-SRK60-Revoke-OpenVPN-client-certificate/m-p/2139485 This function is also required by other users: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi-Pro-WiFi-for-Small-Business/How-to-renew-VPN-private-key/m-p/1689399 I urgently ask you to install this function, because without a VPN switched on is a major security problem! Kind regrads Carlos

Netgear Insight, although I think targeted toward businesses, does not support compliant WPA2 Enterprise. It forces TKIP+AES mixed mode. It is impossible to enforce WPA2 Enterprise on an Insight managed device. The devices are capable, but you have to unmanage a device and set CCMP-AES manually on the local interface, and that AP can never be managed by Insight, or it will change the encryption from AES back to TKIP+AES mixed mode.

When I bought this business class mesh system about a year back (1 router and 2 satellites), tech support stated that the product being a business producr does not have a built in firewall and I should procure an external firewall. A year back tech support stated that vlan segmentation and vlan to ssid mapping would be coming in a later release. At this point indeed the feature came in a later release of hardware in AX6000. I was talking to tech support today again as I purchased a decent hardware firewall and I would like to have the same vlan feature Iin the AX6000) of vlan 1,10,20 and 30 married to SSID with trunking available on the AC3000 as this should be basic network fiormware/software update and has nothing to do with wifi6 which may demand a new chipset. In the very least I need to segment the IOT stuff from business traffic. Can you please integrate proper vlan/ssid mapping into the AC3000 (SRR60). The way this should work is a user joins SSID Wireless 1 and should be part of the corresponding VLAN/Subnet and the AC3000 would run in AP mode and trunk (80-2.1q) the vlans via the WAN port to the Firewall which provides the IP routing, dhcp and all other services. I am not looking for wifi-6.
