Need firmware upgrade, if possible, for SRX 5308 to add SHA-256 or higher signature algorithm to meet PCI compliance. If this is not possible I need to know so I can replace hardware with compliant hardware.

Hello, I'm using IEEE 802.1x wired authentication on my switches, generally it's working ok, but a bit slow as the switch tries to authenticate to the RADIUS server and can't get an authentication, you'll get timeouts and retries and when all of this fails the guest VLAN will be assinged to the port. All good and well, but I also use PXE boot for installations and sometimes different bootmodes and the time it takes to get a connection with the VLAN exceeds the timeout of DHCP resulting in not connecting. I can do some finetuning limiting the timeouts and rerequest, also change the DHCP timeout a bit. In some cases this works, but it's a hassle, I've seen on HP switches that I use that they just assign the guest VLAN (or default VLAN) to the port while attempting the authentication giving a way more smoother experience. I would like to suggest to assign the guest VLAN first and then attempt an authentication, changing the VLAN if/when authentication is accepted. I found this to be the case in all NETGEAR switched that I used, not a particular range.

Hello, in latest firmware 1.0.4.0 the WAX206 now supports Bridge Mode. No repeating, no wifi AP - only logging into an exisiting wireless network as a client and supplying this network to up to 4 connected wired devices. Exactly what I was looking for! Problem: I am using a WiFi 6 AX router and a WiFi 5 repeater in my home. The WAX206 delivers great performance when connecting to the (also physically closer) AX router. But occassionally the WAX206 connects to the WiFi 5 repeater instead, not using the performance of AX. The problem results from the Bridge Mode setup: You can enter the name of the WiFi network and the network password. You cannot select the MAC address of the AP the WAX206 shall connect to. So as router and repeater are sending identical SSIDs the WAX206 does nothing wrong, basically - just using the entered login data and connecting. Other devices or repeaters do a wifi discovery showing all found networks in a list with the MAC addresses and you can select, which AP the repeater/client should use. It would be really nice if firmware of WAX206 could be improved to make further settings possible when usind the Bridge Mode.

Hi, when I'm using the Guest Network chekbox in Wireless Setting - Access Point, VLAN Isolation is disabled. This is quite limiting in network designs. It would be great if the firmware allowed to assign Guest Networks to specific VLANs. My actual case now is with WAX214, but I understand this intended and is applicable to other Wifi AP models, too. Thanks, Jo

I would like to propose a new feature to the Insight Web and Mobile portals. Specifcally, I propose that there be an option to turn off and/or limit to certain channels/devices the "Enable Neighbor AP" scanning. The option to turn it off exists on the local web UI for the WAC540 (the particular Access Point I use) and it is also possible on the local Web UI to turn on/off for just certain Channels. In addition, a user can set the frequency of the scanning (Mild/Medium/Aggressive). I have noticed that this scanning causes regular packet loss for any client connected to the device, which causes regular (brief) freezing on Video/VOIP calls. I tested by removing a device from the Insight Controller and turning off the "Enable Neighbor AP" scanning as well as setting the mild/med/aggressive options. Setting to mild resulted in less packet loss. Setting to agressive causes more frequent packet loss. Once you re-connect a device to the Insight Controller, the option to check "Enable Neighbor AP" is grayed out on the local Web UI. It's also not possible on the Insight Web portal or the Insight Mobile app to set "Enable Neighbor AP" option. With all the people using these devices to connect to/from remote locations (as a result of COVID), frequent, even if brief, freezes in responsiveness mean that this Insight feature gap represents a significant limitation of the Insight Controller.

Hi, I'm using a GS110TP switch with firmware 5.4.2.33. The HTTPs interface is enabled and working. The problem is that Firefox is now considering the GUI as unsecured because of TLS 1.0. There's no way to enable TLS 1.2 and it's a real security problem. Is it possible to get a new firmware with TLS 1.2 support ? Regards.

fallsfal It appears no longer possible to configure ReadyNas to use Backblaze Amazon s3 backup per https://help.backblaze.com/hc/en-us/articles/1260804505130-How-to-use-Netgear-ReadyNAS-with-Backblaze-B2, I suspect that direct use of Amazon S3 fails as well but haven't tested that. I received this response from Backblaze support: The requirement for V4 signatures is indeed a part of the S3 compatible API. The older versions have been deprecated and as a result, we have stopped supporting them. Unfortunately, I am not able to troubleshoot their device and it's utilities. I would recommend reaching out to their support to see if there is a way to update or alter the signature they are using. Apologies for not being able to be more help there.

Hello:
The GS105PE switch is a great idea and potential problem solver. Unfortunately, due to one design flaw, it is only "almost" useful.
There are a few different switches that support PoE Passthrough on a single port. What makes this switch so awesome is that it has two ports. With an 802.3at (PoE+) feed, there is enough power to power two devices of common PoE types (for example, two PoE telephones). Of course, with this its also potentially possible to plug in two devices that use too much power and end up overloading the feed port. Fortunately, MOST poe devices out there do not have this problem.
Unfortunately, this switch is hamstrung by a design choice: the overload problem is solved by PoE class limitations rather than actual current limits. In order to use both ports, you have to plug in class 1/2 devices, if you have even one class0 or class3 device, then you only get one. Period. Even if that device only wants 2.5w.
This is a more extreme problem than it appears because most PoE PE chip makers have switched to only making class 3 chips. Thus most devices advertise class 3, even if they only need class 2. Except for this switch, this is no issue, as normal PoE switches regulate by combined power, not class. That's why I can get an 8 port 60W PoE switch that supports class 3. At full class 3, that allows nearly 13 watts per port, or 104W for all 8 ports.
It appears Netgear used this worst-case design method when designing this device. Please correct this huge oversight and just use power limiting rather than class-based limiting. It would be fine to shut off the port output and flash the power light if the total available budget is exceeded. Without that, this becomes a single-port PoE passthrough, not the two port its advertised as.

I would like to see a way to install the VPN client on a mobile phone (iPhone). There is currently no functionality for this, which is very surprising. The install for windows and Mac are super easy and helpful, but the lack of support for iPhone makes this device not as great as it could be. Please consider adding a way to use the VPN on mobile devices.

Hi, I purchased 2x WAC540 units with the absolute expectation of being able to dedicate/reserve/lock the 5GHz High Band for Bridge backhaul only, given that this is mentioned as a headline feature. However it appears that even though a particular Band is used for Bridge mode, normal clients can pick this band for their connectivity, and since it's a more performant band, all 5GHz-capable clients prefer it. I don't want to use the 5GHz Low Band for Bridge mode since it's half the bandwidth of the 5GHz High Band, and as we know already with Bridges, badnwidth is halved by their very nature. I raised a ticket with NETGEAR and the reply was that this feature is only available with the Insight Subscription, and that I should raise it as a feature request. This feature "lockout" to paid subscription is NOT mentioned ANYWHERE in the documentation for these models which is really poor form. If it is, it is not easily found! For now I have set the max number of clients on the 5GHZ High Band to be 1 to reduce contention. The simplest thing for NETGEAR to introduce in a firmware update is allowing the max clients setting to be zero but that would not be very intuitive. A better option is to be able to choose which 5GHz Bands can be used for client SSIDs; at the moment we have radio buttons (which is single choice) to choose between: 2.4GHz 5GHz Both It needs to be checkbox buttons (so multiple choice) to choose a combination of: 2.4GHz 5GHz Low 5GHz High You could drop the Both (All) option since checking all of them is the equivalent. An equally better option would be able to click a button that says "Dedicate this Band for Bridge mode only" when creating a Bridge. I get that these APs a designed for Business/Enterprise WiFi where Insight subscriptions 100% make sense, but the features they provide just aren't available in SOHO/Home WiFi models and my setup is such that I need to Bridge between 2 houses only, for sharing internet, NAS, printing etc. I am a home consumer buying Business/Enterprise kit. Thanks

I have a BR500 and purchased the Insight Instant VPN service for it. Overall, the Insight Instant VPN service is nice as I can manage who I let into the VPN and It's an easy way to get into my routers network remotely. While I can get the VPN to work from my home Windows based PC, I also have several Linux machines that I would like to be able to connect to the VPN with. I've already been in contact with support and the conclusion was that this is somehow not supported or they had no settings they could give me to manually configure a connection. I'd be happy with just some settings that I could use to manually configure a connection to the Inisight Instant VPN on Linux (e.g., Protocol, Gateway, etc.). If for some reason there is something that can't be disclosed then a Linux version of the app would be great too. I just want to be able to use the service through my Linux machines.
