Currently, you can allow all VLAN's on a switch trunk port using basic 802.1Q mode. In this mode you cannot set a PVID or native vlan on the switch port, and any untagged traffic falls into an unconfigurable dead-end VLAN 4094. In advanced 802.1Q mode, you can set a PVID, or native VLAN on a trunk port, however to allow all VLAN's you have to configure each VLAN manually - up to a limit of 64. Most vendors have an option to setup a trunk port to allow ALL VLANs, while setting a native VLAN on the port. Use Case 1: Scalability. You can deploy several switches in a network, and not have to manually add VLAN's to every switch when additional subnets are created. Use Case 2: Troubleshooting tool or network tap. You can insert this switch between a PoE device and an existing switch, and mirror the bi-directional traffic to a monitor port while maintaining the uplink to the existing switch. Good when you don't know what VLAN's are in use on the existing equipment.

Currently (and historically) Netgear does not always show all connected devices. This leads to a loss of user confidence in the web interface and app's ability to reflect the current state. Example- my currently connected NAS is not listed in the Attached Devices even though I previously reserved an IP address for it under Advanced -> LAN Setup. (The NAS indeed is using this reserved address.) The NAS is a wired and active connection but is only visible under Advanced->Access Control-> "View list of allowed devices not currently connected to the network". Notes- 1) other active devices are also listed as inactive. 2) normally Access Control is not implemented - this is the only visibility to devices known to be active. Use case- provide more aggressive active device polling.

Nighthawk R7000 interface provides unencrypted connection with hidden SSID while ORBI does not. Use case- provide similar option to users who want to provide unencrypted guest acct without neighbors having visibility. Rationale- presently there's no point in providing a broadcasted guest SSID requiring login credentials, and certainly having same in the clear opens new vector for nosy neighbors with either malicious or benign intent to use free internet.

Hello Netgear Team, In the insight web cloud portal, the WIFI user has very few options for external authentication. The existing external method is only by the RADIUS server. However, if an SMB organization does not have a radius server, they must use only the PSK method for authentication because there is no flexibility for external authentication. So, if NETGEAR adds or introduces LDAP (Active Directory) integration for external authentication, the flexibility to choose the authentication method will be provided. Thanks Rahul Jain Sr. Network Engineer

It is absurd that the GS110EMX does not support https. How can this be? It’s irresponsible to have any device not support https. Please add https support to the GS110EMX. I do not want to send my device password in plaintext across my network!

Is it possible to add an email notification for a switch port state change on Netgear cloud managed switches with insight please? Looks like Cisco Meraki can do this and it would be great to know if someone is connecting or disconnecting devices to the switch or if a LAN host has gone offline. Many thanks in advance Joe

Half of a week in on using the device, loving the performance. But just noticed one of the features I would like to see is a band steering option so it can try to send clients to the 5GHz when the client connects to the 2.4GHz band.

So I recently bought an Netgear WAX206 through the Amazon Canada store, but the wireless controls are region locked to United States with no option for me to change this. I understand the reasoning that you want to make it easier for the customer and potentially not break any laws by broadcasting out of range wireless signals, but this is poor design. I don't know what steps can be done now to unlock the region setting so I can select Canada. It also causes a problem for resale as well. Can you please resolve this issue. Thanks!

After installing pfSense in my home, I recently replaced my Netgear XR500 with a WAX206. While I love the functionality I get of seeing connected clients while in AP mode (a function I lost on XR500) I would like to see a column added of the wifi speeds and possibly a column for the operation mode of the connected client. IE +---+-----------------+-------------+-----------=-----+
| # | Connection Type | Device Name | Speed | PHY |
+---+-----------------+-------------+-----------+-----+
| 1 | Wireless | Client 1 | 866/866 | AC |
| 2 | Wireless | Client 2 | 1200/1200 | AX |
| 3 | Wireless | Client 3 | 600/600 | AN |
| 4 | Wireless | Client 4 | 300/300 | GN |

IPv6 is a basic function on any modern network device, wax206 should not be an exception. It will be good to have that anytime soon.

I had opened a ticket asking for the ability to trunk multiple vlans out a single port to allow easier management of devices on each vlan, this seems like its not possible today, the alternative to this request is to just install SSH on the router. With SSH enabled on the router I can create dynamic tunnels through the router to the other networks without even needing to make any port changes. I am actually shocked that the orbi only supports Telnet, there is no reason in 2022 that the only CLI management is Telnet. Dropbear is already installed on the device, we should be allowed to choose SSH or telnet.

Hello, For this small PoE Switch, it would be good to provide the following possibilities: -To be able to configure the fixed speed of a port at 1000 Mbit/s this choice of speed is currently not possible. -To be able to specify the VLAN of the administration interface of the Switch. -In the PoE --> "Power Cycle Ports" section, only the ports delivering power should be displayed instead of all the ports. -It would be nice to have the ARP/Mac Table displayed in the web interface. With best regards.

I own an XS724EM 24-port 10G switch. It runs warm to the touch, and the default fan profile seems to err on the side of low noise rather than cooling. Tech support says that the switch is designed to spin down fans entirely unless a certain temperature threshold is reached. Personally, I would prefer to see more aggressive cooling, even if meant slightly more fan noise. So my feature request is twofold: Basic temperature monitoring (ambient, internal) in the admin GUI. All I want is a simple readout of how warm the switch currently thinks it is. Basic manual fan control in the admin GUI. I'm envisioning something like the "Cool/Balanced/Quiet" drop-down menu (see image) found on ReadyNAS units. I know the managed switches have functionality along these lines. To me, this basic temperature monitoring and control seems like it should definitely be included on Smart/Plus switches too.

we all love mac protection... (yes we do!) but we all are a bit lazy: normally we want to say: please add one first seen mac as static protection mac. using the webinterface we can say 1 static 1 dynamic but... what does it mean? what we normally want is that new MAC addresses are learned until the limit is reached. means: learn until 2 macs, if 3 then trap/disable. all macs should become static. also there should be an option if mac protection should be automatically enabled if static. means no other port is allowed to spoof this mac if once locked down, and maybe ip to mac to port lock, too

Please add an Ethernet Printserver with Scan/Fax etc. mfp support. Many printers use insecure outdated firmwares, so printers should be seperated from workstations. workstations may print to the printserver inside the switch which forwards everything on line speed directly to printer. maybe switch can do some port/mac/etc based authentification if printer access is allowed.

It is nice to have a RADIUS Server on the net. but it is not nice for SMB. if you want to use this server for VPN Access, you cant update and restart your primary machine if this machine is the only RADIUS server (which is common), so the switch is normally not restartet and if, all network connections are dropped. so it would be good if the switch includes a small radius server for TOTP VPN Auth where the VPN Access Concentrator can ask for XAUTH TOTP or sth else. Also there should be a list of OTP who can be printed out like a PAPER TAN LIST. where you can print 1 A4/letter sheet and use it as one time authentifcation password. this is good for traveling etc if no TOTP application is there or smartphone is lost. also this function could be used for WIFI Guest access. also you should add tacacs, kerberos etc, too. but thats not that import. maybe you can add some accounting stuff.

It is a nice feature, that flooded/storm/looped ports may become disabled. but in all cases they should be reenabled after some time. there should be an option to auto reenable a port with this error after n minutes. say loop 1 minutes disabled, flood 5 minutes disabled. after this time it should have some retries like 3-5 retries. if condition still occurs it should automatically scale the time to 50, 500, 5000 minutes or sth else. so problems could be resolved without admin access. this should be OPTIONAL per feature.
