realtime bandwidth monitoring by device

Status: New Idea Submitted by bugmenot2 Apprentice on ‎2017-09-29 11:08 AM

It would be great if you could see realtime bandwidth per device for the netgear r7000, similar to Google Wifi and Eero. It would be a really useful info and diagnostic tool to see what devices are currently taking up bandwidth. It would be great if this was added to the router web administration page as well theNetgear Genie and/or Netgear Up apps.

I've attached a screenshot of how this feature looks on Google Wifi.

Real time and historical would be great. Living under a cap it is important to know what device is using the data.

Hello,
I come from an Asus router, and this function was present.
In a family with a limited internet connection, this is essential in order to be able to find devices that take too much bandwidth.
We are in 2018, and soon in 2019, the lack of this type of function on high-end hardware is abnormal ...

This request is a duplicate of the more popular: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Idea-Exchange-For-Home/Bandwidth-monitoring-by-device/idi-p/1627368

I have never in my life thought it would be this difficult to find a user friendly program that shows devices and their data usage amount. How hard can that be or am I missing something?

I would like to see something like this, in real time

Laptop1 4gb

Laptop2 2gb

iPhone 880mb

Firesticl 345gb

There is really nothing that will show you how much data each device has used when they are on your netowrk? Really?

someone mentioned that this request was a duplicate of another more popular one, but this one is actually older!  This has been ignored for 2 years?!

I was looking at the Orbi as my next router, as my current one is long in the tooth, and having a mesh would help with some of my coverage issues, but I can't imagine going without this feature and will probably buy something else.  I've only had my current router for 5 or 6 years, but gargoyle (which it runs) has had it for over 10 years.  There's a big difference between an "idiot light" on a dashboard saying "there's a problem with your bandwidth being chewed up" and being able to target where it is coming from, and go on to deal with it.  (HEY KID#3! stop youtubing in 4k! your screen can't even display that!)
