I have a GS716Tv2 which after a few hours shutsdowns some links. The link won't work anymore even after a powercycle the link stays down. Only after loading factory defaults the link is up again...
What's wrong? Why is the link suddenly down? And how can I solve this problem?

Re: GS716Tv2 suddenly Link Down
Hi Jeroenst,
Welcome to the community! 🙂
Let us isolate the problem. Kindly answer the questions below:
a. Was everything working fine before?
b. Are there any recent changes made in the settings of the GS716Tv2 switch or changes made within your network setup?
c. Have you tried changing the ethernet cables on the links that shuts down on the GS716Tv2 switch?
d. How is everything connected? It would be best if you post a diagram of your detailed network setup.
e. What is the current firmware version of your GS716Tv2 switch?

Re: GS716Tv2 suddenly Link Down
@Retired_Member,
Thanks for the feedback. What do you mean by Point-to-Point? What devices are connected to the links that shuts down?
If ever another smart switch (or managed switch) is connected to the links that shuts down, its possible that STP kicks in to prevent loops if ever STP is enabled on the switches. What is the behavior of the port LED lights of the links that shuts down?

Re: GS716Tv2 suddenly Link Down
The led on the port that shuts down are off and stay off until factory defaults are loaded. Powercycling doesn't turn on the port again. Also connecting another device doesn't enable the port again.

Re: GS716Tv2 suddenly Link Down
@Retired_Member,
So its just one port that goes down that is connected to the VDSL2 router. I research online and found out that the ZTE H639A Experia Box V10 has 4 LAN ports. Here are my follow-up questions:
a. Have you tried to connect the VDSL2 router to other ports of the GS716Tv2 switch? If yes, does same problem occur?
b. Have you tried connecting the GS716Tv2 to the other LAN ports of the VDSL2 router?
c. Are there any VLANs configured on the GS716Tv2?

B. Yes, but link stayed down
C. I don't know, it's managed by my isp....
Maybe STP did cause the problem. I wil reenable it for test...
