M4200 - Intermittent Incomplete Boot or SFP+ not working on Power Up
** NOTE - We can't select M4200 from the Associated Products list. **
A customer has been using a M4200-10MG-PoE+ (GSM4210P) for several years. This is a pro-AV environment, but predates the M4250 lineup. This unit lives in a portable desk that has AV equipment in it, but is disconnected and put away weekly.
They have been reporting for a few months that sometimes, but not all, when they power up the desk, they don't have network connectivity to the main (core) switch, which is now a M4250 (GSM4248PX). For some time the solution was simply to power cycle the switch and then everything comes up normally. Last week, a power cycle didn't resolve the issue.
I went to the site and connected to the switch while it appeared to not be booting. I can't speak for the other times but this time, devices connected to the RJ45 ports could communicate with each other. It appeared that the only issue was the SFP+ port wasn't connected or active. This is a 3rd party copper 10gig transceiver (Broadcom BCM84891 chipset) and it has worked just fine. These transceivers were specifically chosen as they have lower power draw and stay cooler than some Marvell based ones. The link is CAT6A F/UTP and is only about 30 feet.
Now, I have temporarily replaced the switch with a Netgear M4210PX, and the same transceiver works fine and lit right up.
Is there anything we can see that might be causing this? The techsupport file can be found here.

Re: M4200 - Intermittent Incomplete Boot or SFP+ not working on Power Up
Formally, the M4200 came with a lifetime Technical Support through
online chat and Lifetime Next Business Day hardware replacement. I'll encourage you heading to https://my.netgear.com/ seeking for Chat support (slots are sometimes difficult to get), or go direct to the [Request Hardware Replacement] process.
Keep in mind Netgear does not support third-party modules.
