Problem Configuring VLAN routing OSPF M4300-12X12F FW 12.0.4.8

Hi,

We just bought M4300-12X12F for a storage project. Attached is the network diagram for reference. I need to create a VLAN 172. I have configured the Netgear to communicated with Cisco Nexus 7000 with ip routing via OSPF without problem. However when I created VLAN routing OSPF I just cant get the VLAN to work. The states is always down. I am not sure if i missed something and I hope someone can point me to the right direction.

(M4300-12X12F) #show ip interface br

Interface State IP Address IP Mask TYPE Method
----------- ----- --------------- --------------- --------------- ---------------
1/0/1 Down 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 Primary DHCP
1/0/7 Up 10.240.255.58 255.255.255.252 Primary Manual
vlan 172 Down 10.240.172.1 255.255.255.0 Primary Manual

Model: XSM4324S|M4300-12X12F - Stackable Managed Switch with 24x10G including 12x10GBASE-T and 12xSFP+ Layer 3

Hi @joeyang

Welcome to Community!

Yes, your VLAN 172 status is Down.

Could you please check if there is at least one up port under VLAN 172?

And for more detailed info, please run below command on the switch:

show vlan 172 | include Inc

show port all | include Up

show spanning-tree mst port summary 0 active

Regards,

EricZ

Hello @Retired_Member

I am not very familiar with CLI commands. We did the configuration mostly on the GUI interface. It is so weird that we repeated the process following the guide from below link and it never worked. When we are about to give up, and tried doing the same process the last time, some how the vlan suddenly became active and the network is running fine. We will keep observing this and will keep you guys updated.

Thanks
