Reset password on GS748TPS?

Hello All-

Have 4 of these switches (2 in each bldg& stacked via HDMI) connected by fiber. I had a 8 char PW set on the switch and decided to change it today so our security consultant could access it. Right after I changed the PW and logged off, I tried to log back on but it tells me

Access was denied due to one of the following reasons:
1) There are too many users logged in.
2) The specified user name and/or password is incorrect.

I’m 99.9% sure that I entered the new password correctly (as it let me change it and made me enter it twice to confirm)and clicked on apply.

So how is it that I cannot login now? I also looked at the unit and much to my dismay there is NO serial port with which to connect a console session to. This presents a huge problem.
Any magic login other than a reset? I cannot afford to lose my current cfg. (which I did not see a way to back up) and really do not want to reset to factory defaults.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Re: Reset/recover password on GS748TPS?

Wow...over 6 months and not ONE reply? Really?

Apparently NetGear doesn't own any magic bullets for their own hardware? Yikes. I did check out the Cisco Type 7 password recovery tools from SOlarWinds, but those require you to paste from a known exported cfg file and it then decrypts the password. That is not an option here to my knowledge.

Re: Reset password on GS748TPS?

This is a user forum. You can get a direct answer from Netgear by entering a trouble ticket.

Re: Reset password on GS748TPS?

Forum is user to user basis not sure why you waited 6month for help

You need to call support directly at my.netgear.com or make support call.

These smart switches does not have console options so you are "very" limited to how you can gain access.

You should have warranty so deal with support and possible to get RMA exchange.
