Vlan configuration for voice and data on a same port

Hello guys,

I really need your help, I have bought Switch Netgear M4100-50G-POE+ and i want to configure interface of the switch to accept both data and voice on same port.
PC plug to the IP phone and phone plug to the switch.

My ISP told me to configure 2 Vlan :

Vlan 100 for the voice and vlan 101 for data.

For the moment, i cant test with ip phone because i havent received them yet, i just tried with a single computer on vlan 101 but Dhcp of the router is not working and i dont know why..
Can someone tell me how to configure this switch and if i need to enable the voice vlan feature ?
Thanks you very much !

Re: Vlan configuration for voice and data on a same port

Hi Godmaster,

I wonder why the ISP informed to create a new VLAN for the data...

I think without some additional information on the ip phone setup it will be shots in the dark.

We also use the same sort of setup for our IP phones and desktops (We are using Avaya)

VLAN 1 (default) for data

VLAN 101 for voice

For all ports on the switch:

PVID 1

VLAN 1 untagged

VLAN 101 tagged

Some routing to allow traffic to pass through from VLAN 1 to 101 and vice versa

The phones are configured to listen to VLAN 101, and all untagged data is passed through

The phones receive their IP from DCHP on VLAN 101 and desktops keep receiving IP from DHCP on VLAN 1

Re: Vlan configuration for voice and data on a same port

Hello !

My ISP always configure vlan100 for data and 101 for voice i dont know why, maybe they have all same rules for all mark.

I cant deleted the default vlan 1 its normal ?

Where do you add routing traffic for vlan ?

I dont know if my ISP as configured the router well but the dhcp is not working and even with a static ip adress on a notebook i cant go on the wan.

I dont know what do to do its a nightmare !
